I think they got hosed. That being said our track coach told our kids multiple times how strict some of the officials can be.

Highway Robbery

I mean 1st there kids

2nd: What kids do u know doesn’t show emotions esp when this would been there 5th state title - 3rd straight and also the kid broke the NC record n its was ranked 5th nationally

Also 3rd: we have seen way more egregious taunts and unsportsmanlike behavior in other sports so what make track so special?

This a massive over reach unless there is large backstory about the supposed warning that occurred earlier. Even with a warning, this isn’t taunting because he taunts no one and there is no way it could be viewed as excessive celebration.

Even the event he got warned at i dont even think that was excessive i mean did he jump up n down n fist bump friends n even his opponent but I still dont think it was Unsportsmanlike esp when he fist bumped his opponents so

I think the rule on this is little bit too excessive. They throw up their hands all the time in the Olympics. This kid probably be going to the Olympics.

Is the rule silly? Yes.

Is it a rule that coaches and players were told about during their pre event meeting with officials? Yes.

Was the kid warned after a perceived first offense? The official says so, and officials are never wrong or biased....

Did others make gestures? Yes, and were either warned or it was after finish lines where it is permitted, as Ive been told by people there.

Will Mallard Creek make shirts that say "real champs"? Probably.

I've watched Nyan Brown practicing the last 4 years at Mallard Creek. He's just an awesome young man. 3.7 GPA, with a laid-back demeanor. It's just not in his DNA to make gestures showing up competition. The kid broke a record from 2007, that's 19 years, and showed emotion.
