CC/OT: How many HS Valedictorians is too many?

Our public school has done away with class rank - only the top 2 find out that they’re valedictorian/salutatorian. No ties that I’m aware of - we have a pretty challenging grading system that naturally sorts itself out (not a lot of kids just cruising through with 98+ in all classes). Doesn’t seem to have impacted college placement.

Ditto for me.

It would be a great sociology study to research the life outcomes of high school valedictorians and salutatorians.
my son was high school valedictorian and now has a PhD in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. Graduated PhD with 4.0 GPA and is lead engineer at a start up you possibly will be hearing about in coming years. (I remember when you were BWLion and posted some snarky stuff on Test board about my kids taking easy classes to keep their hope scholarships....hahahahahahahaha.............)
