Nice win!

Nice to see:

- Devin Williams have a stress free save vs his old team

- Terrific job by Weaver.

- Solid job by Peterson keeping team in game. He works better as a bulk pitcher.

- Kudos to Soto ; Vientos and Benge offensively. Soto becoming more of a leader and much more comfortable! Even seeing him smile !

Would love to think this game can turn around the season ( or at least play better). Could have easily folded after Benge error and bases loaded no outs. I am sure I am not the only one that had flash backs to Luis Castillo.

Wenninger will make his start today so he will not be coming up to make the start later this week. Could still be Zach Thornton.

I still can't believe Weaver got out of that last night. Really great stuff.

Keep the momentum going! Elmer is a really good prospect but he's been walking a lot of guys in his two previous starts. Hope the lineup is patient like they were last night against Rodon.

Going back to the offense- one thing that should have been the day 1 plan - let Baty and Vientos know they are in the lineup every single day.

Both have shown what they can do for long stretches...both still relatively young and both have no clue what they have to do to prove themselves. But, we may be seeing the same thing we are seeing with Benge- give the chance to fail but stick with them. The

Another game we could have easily folded up. Two huge games in a row. Think we are too much in a hole early in the season but I have to say……. Not hating watching them since these rookies are starting to carry the team,

I’m curious with Ewing- how are pitchers going to adjust to him?
They will see he won’t chase but I’m not 100% sure they feel he can make a mistake hurt them too much.

it will be interesting. Because once he is on base, he is trouble.

Heckuva win!

Hope somehow the team can sustain its winning ways until some reinforcements and or injured players return!

Losing Holmes is such a killer !

Hoping somehow Mets can tread water and are within striking distance of a playoff spot when teams start to dump.

Hope I’m not being premature per the above statement

1 Suggestive Comment: Either demote Maneaa or DFA him. If he somehow remains with team - he only pitches up 9 runs or down 9 runs. No high leverage situations like today !

To your last point, Mets cannot demote Manaea without his consent, which I doubt he would provide.

Figured as such with Maneaa.

Looks like you’re going to win our bet ! Lol. - which I’m happy about!

Start looking over the schedule for a game after June 30. My treat !

Only exception is Dodgers series as all games booked / taken for that series !

I have great seats overlooking home plate - only weekends however !

This is a good question! I think what makes Ewing so promising is that eye and short swing. I'm assuming they'll try speed and then breaking balls in the zone and see what he does. He came so quick through the minors that we don't have good Statcast data but his contact in and out is good.

Something very noticeable and encouraging is Soto's excitement around the young kids! He seems way more engaged with the roster since Lindor has been on the IL. It's clearly his team and I love it and believe me I wasn't a fan of throwing all that money into one player. I will happily eat the crow I deserve.

Thanks for your kind offer, but I must decline. The passage of time and some physical issues have made it difficult for me to get to games. Have had to give up my RU tickets. I am pretty much just a TV fan now.

I'm still able bodied but I just gave up my RU basketball tickets after 43 seasons. It's a two hour round trip for a two hour event and I just don't have it in me anymore. It sucks getting old, lol.

IDK if it is getting old or getting tired of watching the team I am rooting for lose so much. RU football may be next for me.

I do not agree that it sucks getting old. I am thankful to be granted that privilege. Many of our contemporaries have not been so fortunate!

Seems less to do with Lindor and more to do with the kids- which include Baty/Vientos...

Though, if it really is Lindor- then why wouldn't Stearns have seen that and trade him during the offseason rather than get rid of everyone else.

I would love to see Benge, Ewing, Baty, Vientos continue playing pretty much every day.

Not sure Lindor's salary would be easy to trade without giving up some to take it on.

Love seeing the TV booth make these calls as they happen. And Howie Rose is so damn good at his job, it's a shame he's retiring after this year.
On the subject of aging... Before there was internet, ESPN, or sports talk radio, there was something called Sportsphone. You called a number and a cheery voice read as many of the day's scores to you as could be squeezed into a minute. Howie Rose was one of the original voices of Sportsphone. That is how many of us first got to know him.

At the time, Sportsphone was a big f'n deal. Years later, Rose compared his Sportsphone gig to anchoring the CBS Evening News.

I agree with Rutgers NJ. Soto seems much more engaged / happy to be with the team.

On Lindor - I hope he realizes this is Soto s team now and the 2 can co exist within locker room dynamics as such.

Have read / heard that Lindor wife and Cohen wife are very close which probably excludes any possibility of a trade. 😂

I guess Mets didn't want to lose Duarte. Other than that, this move doesn't make much sense. Duarte has made 12 appearances for Syracuse, including 4 starts, but only 17.1 innings. He isn't stretched out to start tomorrow or Wednesday, which is what the Mets need.

Unless another move is forthcoming?

McLean is pitching tomorrow but that will haven't announced what they are going to do Wednesday yet.
