The contempt that young people today have for boomers baffles me.

I’m a Gen X guy, and I recall we were always taught to regard our grandparents generation with much respect and admiration (we even called them “the Greatest generation”). But that way of thinking seems to have died, today’s youth always seems to reference boomers with ridicule and contempt.
As a Gen X guy myself, I somewhat understand some contempt for the boomers. The show "ThirtySomething" and the movie "The Big Chill" were pretty self-centered😂

Idiot "fans" that think they can control Social media and believe everything we say about the team should be nice and optimistic ALWAYS

Most threads devolving to bickering contests is my biggest pet peeve. I seriously don't understand the point of two people hijacking a thread to have a p*ss*ng contest. It's not like either side is going to change their mind.

There's an attachment to in-state players because some feel they are "one of us" and "understand the tradition". It's the same for former players becoming coaches. That formula never works out, but it’s always brought up.
The player one has absolutely worked out many times. It absolutely has validity but only if the player is talented enough to actually help us. We have never won a title without a key contributor from the state of Kentucky on the team.

As far as coaches this only the second time it has happened. It worked out plenty well with Joe Hall. The book is not completed yet on Pope so I will reserve judgement for now.

The belief that Kam Williams is the next Reggie Miller.
Kid made shots against Bellarmine and that was it.
Take away Bellarmine and he probably had more air balls than made 3's.
Love to see him work and get better, but to believe he is a major contributor right now is ridiculous.
This falls under the exaggeration and strawman category. Literally no one considers Williams to be anywhere near Reggie Miller's level.

The Unforgettables would like a word. But yeah, I get what you're saying. Hasn't really worked out since.
Cameron Mills, Ravi Moss, Patrick Sparks, Reed Sheppard and Rajon Rondo say hello. That’s just off the top of my head and are basically recent. There’s a plethora of great in state players throughout our history. His statement is incorrect.

The ones that think they are a basketball experts when they are like the rest of us, talking basketball on a message board.
For example, the ones that said Moreno had no shot of going pro this year. because they have been analyzing drafts for years and Moreno did not have the skill set. Now, Moreno might not go pro, but like I try to point out, the NBA drafts on potential and not where people are today.

I wasn't stating that guys from Kentucky shouldn't be on the team. That statement was made because it is in the same sentimental vein as hiring former players.

There are plenty of examples of former players from the state that have done well. However, a lot of times fans give way too much importance into that aspect of guys and refuse to believe that the player just isn't good enough. Some were wanting Dontaie Allen back and stating that Jake Feldhaus was already better than Kam Williams.

You're far more likely to get a Stephen, William or Daniel than you are an Alec Baldwin.

Kam hit 28n3s last uear and weren't 8 in the one game?

Reminds me of bledsoe when he was here. He wasn't a super good 3 point shooter as I recall but then he hit 8 against wake forest n near. Then he couldn't hit anything like everyone else against WVU. He hit 49 3s and 8 were n one game.

Kam probably hits a similar number if he plays all season. He's not the savior some think I agree.

The belief we can land any coach with the snap of our fingers because “it’s Kentucky,” when in reality, since Rupp our coaching searches have seldom netted our top option.

Hall had coached Regis College to a 57-50 record and had one decent year at Central Missouri State before getting hired at UK.

Sutton hadn’t been past the Sweet 16 since 78 and was no where near our top choice in 1985.

Pitino was seen as an outside the box hire after Lute Olsen and PJ Carlissimo turned us down.

Tubby was hand selected by Pitino.

BCG was a third option.

Got it right with Cal.

Pope was a third option that should’ve been the 23rd option.
Unc just showed how hard it is to get your top target.

Without calling out another poster, what are some of your favorite topics on this board? I’ll start…conspiracy theories (this guy is faking an injury sort of thing) and the fascination with Tyler Ulis coaching here.
I used to read this board for information on the team. The last 2 years I just read it to laugh at a lot of these stupid posts.

My pet peeve is when you gotta do that thing that no one else said to do but exactly like the thing says it’s supposed to be whenever you have the thing that keeps the thing how the thing.

I personally hate the juvenile Boomer nicknames and jokes that get used on here daily by juvenile boomers. Looserville, Ew-tee, Cow, etc. You're not 12. Just saw the right word. You can still hate their guts and still type like an adult.
Just seeing the thread but this is a big one for me. I'm all for humor if it's at least clever. We've got folks here from their 20s to their 80s but I don't believe younger guys are using Cow for Cal, Poop for Pope, Ricky Pee or Pricktino for Rick Pitino, and Loserville or Duhville for UofL and thinking that's funny or clever. That feels like cornall, older gen, Facebook type humor and it's really just cringey to read through it and then see that it's somehow gotten likes and all that.

the whole whiff thing, someone who acts like they are right all the time, people who go with the majority who don't add anything new, the whole of you come from a small school you can't be any good(ie Antonio Reeves, Walter Clayton, Yaxel Lendenberg etc)

Your post makes a lot of sense. I get you ...
I think Olson turned us down twice, but not sure.

YES ... Eight (8) against Bellarmine in Rupp.

Getting residue on my hands- cannot stand to have dirty hands- go into bathroom and wash hands which triggers need to piss. Piss and then slowed by dilemma of inefficient use of time for doing redundant task vs. needing to wash my hands again. Its a losing scenario every time.

The most recent 4-year in-state players are Derek Willis and Dominique Hawkins (2016-17) ... Trent Noah may be the next.

As I remember it was your side of the aisle that was constantly whining that there was not one player on the roster with future NBA potential.

I'll not blame everything on this fact but things have not gone that great lately.

That was posted here many times Alzheimer boy. The irony is rich since you don't seem to recall this.
