…to home/away games, travel to the SEC and/or NCAA tournament, you could build your very own, very nice golf simulator inside your house or garage. And many of you spend this money every year. Build your vacations around basketball games from a university that hates you.

I know I’ll get slammed for this, but for many of you, it’s time to not just cut the cord, do something nice for yourself or with your family.

Watch the games from inside TV sets. It’s basically free. Stop fulfilling the stereotype of the loyal to a fault fan that follows the team around like a puppy dog and stop giving your money to a useless cause until they get their act together.

We have already done this. We didn’t go to the SEC tournament for the first time since 1979. We went to Oaklawn Park that week instead.

I won’t spend another dime on tickets, hotels or travel to UK games as long as Pope is coach.

I’ll watch on TV and hope the players can overcome his non coaching.

Go to the games Wildcat friends. Go to the SEC tournament and enjoy yourself. Rupp could be filled up every game next year and it isn’t going to make a difference if UK loses 15 games next year. The folks that pony up the big money will make the difference. I suspect they already are.

Yeah, it’s also amazing to me that people will invest their money into indoor golf simulators that are glitchy and hate you.

For that money you could go out and play actual golf with real people, instead of being a shut in with nothing to do.

It is totally crazy to me, but it turns out people prefer different things.

Me for example, I like going to the games with my son. He works very different hours and we don’t get to see each other much. I get to travel and talk, yell like heck and have a good time with our fellow season ticket holders, and get some time in the outdoors.

So, sincerely, I hope you enjoy your golf simulator, and I will bear witness to the hatred that the university shows towards me and my family…😉

and are you really “cutting the cord” by giving your hard earned money to an internet company that hates you

An absolutely insanely stupid response. You have an all or nothing mindset. Your argument is weak and specious.

Owning a golf simulator does not make one a shut in.

That’s exactly what I’m saying/will do.

Joined an indoor golf league back in the winter of 2000. Got teamed up with a real good guy. Problem was, when spring/summer arrived, he still wanted to play inside. Had a lot of fun that winter. Can’t imagine the technology today.

I had season football tickets when Stoops started. I was 28 or 29, whatever it was, first time I could finally afford them on my own.

Nowadays I just like being able to pick and choose which games I attend. I don't want to feel like I absolutely HAVE to go to every game. And that's precisely why I've never wanted basketball season tickets. It's not even about the performance on the court. It's about rhe obligation and feeling like Ive wasted money by not going. And frankly, I don't feel like going through the hassle of trying to sell online or give them to friends.

Baseball is the only other UK sport I follow/attend. I'd buy season tickets for that and only go to a couple of games anyway and make my peace with it, but I'm not exactly enamored with Mingione's product. Not sure where I fall on him right now, but I'm not so over the moon about things with the Bat Cats that I can justify the unnecessary expense. Tickets are cheap enough and readily available for any weekend one-off when I decide to go.

Who anointed you hall monitor for anyone else's life? It amazes me that anyone thinks they have the moral or intellectual authority to tell everyone else what to do, how to be a Kentucky fan.

Here's some advice for you: Building a "Golf Simulator" inside your house or garage is the most silly, deluded and wasteful use of resources I can imagine. Well done Tiger! The tour awaits after a few thousand more rounds of "simulated golf," whatever that is...

See what I mean? You don't want me telling you how to spend your time or money and no one else wants to hear that from you.

So, you're saying, stop acting like the most passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable fan base in all of college sports? And start acting like bandwagon fans that show up when the team is great, but disappear when the team is not-so-great?

You seem to think that being a UK fan is simply a side interest...a hobby...much like any other pastime? Well, for most it's far bigger than that. It's a way of life and part of one's identity. How do you think a person can just turn that off and come back to it when the team wins more?

I hope I live long enough to never, ever see BBN become bandwagon fans.

Don’t believe this. Empty seats reverberate and can’t be ignored. Big $ donors can be influenced. Empty seats alone won’t do it, but they accelerate the process.

If its so bad, why don't you lead the way by taking your crybaby posts to your golf simulator until the program is up to your standards and spare all the folks that aren't waving the white flag of seeing your tear stained posts?

You're just a tard, aren't you? I probably shouldn't even engage with you, since you're obviously too STUPID to understand that "golf simulator" is a place holder for "INSERT FAVORITE HOBBY HERE" and anyone with two brain cells to rub together could use their imagination. But what do you expect from a top tier Calboi. I'm sure you budget for road trips to home Arkansas games, amirite comrade?

Maybe sit this one out and go kick your dog or something, angry little boy. The adults are talking.

I'm saying the university leadership is quickly and efficiently overseeing the decline, if not the demise, of this program's prestige and heritage. You might want to prepare for the end, it's coming unless, I dunno, the ENTIRE admin suddenly departs for some unexplained reason.

And anyone NOT upset over the recent set of events is, by DEFINITION, a casual fan and doesn't have any moral authority to preach to anyone about "bandwagon fans." Yeah I'm talking to YOU skippy.

It is amazing how bitchy people get after running around yelling "I'm going to think positive so you do you" but the second they get a little pushback it's "ZOMFG STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO GARBLE GARBLE!"

If you think what I was doing was "preaching" then you need to grow a skin. You're waaaaay too sensitive to go outside. Make sure you put that SPF 100 on and don't forget your helmet in the back yard, sport! Smoking all that weed can be dangerous, y'know.

So, you started this thread and included the statement, “I know I’ll get slammed for this…”. Then, the moment you get a little push-back you use ad hominem attacks as your defense. Very interesting! And far too common these days.

Butts in seats won’t matter if we start out like we did last year. To be fair, my scenario of Rupp being full but bad results get Pope fired isn’t realistic. If the start of the season looks like last year, you’ll be able to tell it at Rupp.

so it’s really a moot point I guess. Either way. Another dysfunctional and chaotic year and he’s gone.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with OP suggesting what they think would improve things. I completely disagree with it and would consider anyone who does that to be a bandwagon fan, by definition. It is inconsistent though how the same people who say fans NOT behaving in a bandwagon fashion are the direct cause of UK’s “becoming Indiana.” Yet — if you say extreme fan behavior on social media has any effect whatsoever on the program, you are “telling people how to fan.” Rules for me, not for thee…

I believe Ash is a true blue fan that is extremely pissed off. I get it. I don’t like where we are either. Just not in me to not go to games and support the young men that decided to come here.

Another is @BigBluefoot I think he’s another good fan. I’ve always enjoyed his posts. He’s just pissed at where we are. Again I get it.

I think often times they get lumped in with the “account creators” that just want to cause trouble. Not fair but I believe it happens.

Yes and going to games doesn’t make you “loyal to a fault fan that follows the team around like a puppy dog and stop giving your money to a useless cause until they get their act together.”

And actually I enjoy golf (although I suck at it, LOL) and my neighbor has a simulator in his basement, and it is pretty cool.

It was actually my roundabout way of of politely saying “don’t be such a judgemental Karen on a Sunday,”

But unfortunately your all or nothing mindset left you making weak and specious arguments.

So I’ll simplify it for you Karen, if you don’t like how I spend my money, especially when it is about a UK fan buying UK tickets on a UK fan site which is, not ironically, full of UK fans, you may want to remain silent, lest your ignorance will go well heard…
