The threat of rain later in the day forced the 2 semifinal games to be played at the same time on different fields. One was played at the DBAP and the other was played at Boshamer.

Interesting that we ended up winning series against 7 of the 8 worst teams in the league seeded #9-16 (AKA the teams who play on Tuesday). Only Tuesday team we didn’t play and beat is Stanford.

We played just one of the teams seeded #5-8 and that was our only series loss (Virginia).

And then of course we played and beat #1 GT and #4 BC.

Said more simply, the 5 teams we avoided playing this year finished #3, #5, #6, #7 and #12 in the standings.

Perhaps you should consider that UNC winning all those series contributed to those teams’ poor records.

I mean, sure. 3 out of each of those teams’ 30 ACC games were against us.

There are unbalanced schedules throughout the league but I think it’s clear UNC got a pretty good draw this year not facing FSU, Miami, Wake, VT and Stanford as our 5 teams we didn’t play. No more and no less.

Not saying it’s a huge deal, just an observation. We went 22-8 in the league and fully deserve our top 8 seed (really we should be in the top 4 or 5). But it’s true we only won 2 series against teams who are firmly in the NCAAT, plus NC State who is right on the bubble.

What do you think? Let Cal play at Stanford tomorrow morning at 9 local time then let the winner get on a plane to Charlotte and they will play on Wednesday. The ACC would never do it but I bet if they gave both teams this option they take it in a minute.

no way i can argue against this scenario ... only "tweak" i might suggest, would to position the winner in the late (Game 8) slot

agree it would never be considered by league administration ...

soooooo logical and would ABSOLUTELY (imo) be the right thing to do for the players

We beat GaTech in a series handily. Run ruled them in game2. Enough said

I will never like the conference the way it is now, The ATLANTIC COAST??? Even having ND who chooses the sports to be a part of the ACC but not football.

Amazing to see Clemson finish where they did this year. Had State not had 2 strong pitchers get injured, with that lineup, they would have been quite strong, imo.

If I had it my way, football would do their own thing with their own league and everyone else would go back to several regional based conferences

Sure. Sure. But I prefer to look at it like those teams were fortunate not to have played Carolina. They should be counting their lucky stars.

Looks like it's going get wet up in the Carolinas starting Thu. with a chance of rain would the ACC decide to double up games Tuesday? Use Charlotte's stadium and have the teams with a single bye play Tuesday as well? Then double up Wednesday and have teams with a double bye play Wednesday evening? Then you have only the simi finals to squeeze in Thursday/friday / Saturday but looking at a weather app it looks bad Thu through Saturday up there.

How exactly are you envisioning this? 9 plays 16 at 9am and then the winner plays 8 at 5pm or something like that and this happens at two different sites? Because based on the current schedule the teams with a single bye can't just play Tuesday because they have to wait for an opponent.

As of now storms are supposed to come late Thursday. Just move those games up and start in the morning. And Friday is like occasional rain showers (50/50 all day with no storms). Neither of those forecasts warrant changing the entire tournament structure to me.

Yeah I posted earlier I was worried about a 2023 scenario but this seems completely different. More scattered stuff hopefully.

Yes like the winner at 9 am would play at 5 pm the 1 winner would play at 9 pm . They will never do it but could find themselves in some sort of double up later in the tournament.
