Visiting teams and recruits are always excited to shoot from there. I doubt they'll care if it is different wood

Glad we're finally moving on from the parquet. It was a fun and unique thing in the 80s. Held onto it way too long.
I love that they picked a really nice maple court. Given current trends, this could have ended up troubling.
Sounds like it will be sanded, and resurfaced/coated, with most of the same design, but with some new updates and changes. Not sure if that retains the darker tone inside the arc, but probably. (?) Scheduled to be done by June 6.

Iowa Purchases NCAA Elite Eight Court for Carver-Hawkeye Arena
I can see the reasons why they should, but also can understand why they might opt not too. Imagine now would be the time to send opinions to the Iowa AD.
Since they state it will mostly be the same design, they could replicate the unique player tribute to CC, and declare it a permanent equivalent to her jersey in the rafters.
The university has announced that the new court WILL include the CC 22 logo, as it obviously should.
