Going late in 1st round means sitting on the bench of a playoff team making $12 million over next 4 years with not much of a shoe contract & very little ad money. It might even mean long stretches on the G League bus. Throw in how expensive it is to live in some NBA cities with high tax rates - the $12 million won’t go that far.
Go back to Ky & get drafted top 10 in next 2 years means $10 million in Ky NIL & sponsorship money - Plus a $20 to $40 million NBA Contract & shoe contract with a Memphis or New Orleans or OKC type team where the money goes a lot further.
Could be a $25 million difference between the years.

Friday night and the bourbon is flowing it appears...

If he does go in the first, it's because he showed a jumper in these pre-draft evaluations - something Pope didn't allow or develop.

Well, not because he is against him shooting. Pope is fine with everyone shooting. I'd say it is because he has been working hard on his shot & was not as good if a shooter 3-4 months ago & the personnel of our team did not allow for as many looks from that position. We were a get the ball & go one on one. The roster was so badly lacking in every manner of skill: passing, shooting, & dribbling...terrible

Trouble with that line of reasoning is he is never going to be drafted Top 10.

Kentucky is a mid state for tax bite-25th be exact.

If he’s making $3 million, he will keep about $1.5 m after taxes and agent fees. A $10k/month apartment in Boston or LA is a non issue. There is a reason that really, really rich people want to live in NYC, LA, Miami, etc. and not OKC or Memphis. Because it’s way more fun and interesting, and it’s not expensive to them.

If Malachi Moreno is a first round pick he can easily afford to live literally anywhere and create generational wealth while doing so, as long as he stays relatively healthy.

Get Mohammed Faye
Big guy that plays big
Rebounds and block shots
Good luck. Dude asked UNC for more money than we were going to pay Veesaar to return. He also shoots so terrible from the FT line that you have to pull him off the court at the end of close games or else the opposing team will just foul him constantly. We ended the recruitment of Faye super quick.
