Paulsen is more likely to get a hit than get a bunt down.

Why are players these days so awful at bunting??? I was always taught to keep the barrel above the knob and use your legs to move up and down to get the bat on the ball. That way you don’t pop it up. Is that just not taught anymore? Good grief.
Why in the WORLD is Eric Paulsen bunting with 2 on and nobody out in the second inning? That’s the most mad I’ve been at this coaching staff all season. Love our coaches but that’s inexcusable.
Eric Paulsen has probably bunted 5 times or less in his life in real games.

When do you think the last time was that Paulsen sacrifice bunted in a competitive environment? People who don’t often do things are often bad at it.

Sure, but bunting is fundamental. A hitter in the starting lineup of the #2 team in D1 college baseball should at least know that you don’t dip the barrel like that on a bunt. The man has a scholarship.
He was planning on running through the base because it’s quicker than sliding. With 2 outs, it’s taught nowadays. Idea being you take the force out away and the run scores
There’s a trend now where if the shortstop fields that clean and it’s going to be a close force play at second base, runners are taught to run through the bag even at second base if they think they can beat it.
Say he beat it by running through the bag and then got tagged out. The run would’ve still scored.
I think bunting is the right call just not with Paulsen. I would have let him swing away, especially after the call out thread.
It all worked out if Forbes thought Paulsen was going to hit into a double play! Haha
