For us Iowans. Looks like there's severe weather chances over the next 4 days. Sounds like Monday could be a brutal one.

We could use some rain. Grass already looking less thick and less green.

We could use like a 3 hour long light shower. Not what they project is coming.
Never in my youth did TV stations routinely predict the end of humanity via storms like they do now.

personally, I think it’s hype to get old people to watch local news/weather 24/7. The segment of the population that never goes outside anyway.

all media are in a contest to crank up the volume. Politics weather news sports. All things that need volume for ratings and clicks.

What I mean is the longer we go without rain the more hydrophobic soil becomes. A long light rain gives the ground a chance to loosen up and soak up the water.

A short hard rain just runs off into the street and drains and throws the mulch everywhere.

I think he’s talking about the op. Broadcasting this thread like the big bad tornado is going to come sweep him away.

I want to be excited but what will happen is the sky will darken and I'll get a token thunder or two as the storm goes around me. I want the whole room to light up before the whole house shakes as the storm goes directly overhead. Anything less is just a waste of time.

Do you even get storms in the mountains? When I lived in Corvo, we would get thunder maybe once or twice per year.

I'm in Des Moines so no mountains here. I get lots of thunder and not so much storm. It's nice because I'm not super worried about a tornado dropping in on my house. That two river theory seems to have worked out for me so far.
