NC State’s offense is scary. The numbers they’ve produced and just the approaches and swings each spot in the order seems to take don’t let me feel comfortable all night last night.

I’m fine with finding one more W and winning the series and then letting the Pack travel somewhere as a #3 seed and never dealing with them again this season.

And yet if you use only ACC game stats, we have a higher batting average, scored more runs, hit more 2B, 3B and HRs, and have higher SLG and OBP.

Oh…we have an elite offense. I wasn’t trying to imply anything to the contrary. Just the feeling last night as I was watching…maybe it was at least somewhat contributable to the desire to beat them so badly…I just thought that every dude in their lineup was a threat and a tough out. That hasn’t been the case many times this year against us.

I think watching our pitchers show such respect is what scared me. Seemed like we were all nibbling as reflected by our pitch count.

Consiglio was always throwing tonight. Really confused why they didn't announce it. Maybe they would have went to him in the late innings last night with a lead and that was why.

Good strikeout to innings pitched by the Woofie.
I hope we get the bat on the ball better tonight.
Also, hope that Lynch can stay ahead of hitters to keep the pitch down & in the game longer. He has the ability to be outstanding when his control is present. Cutdown on BB & plunks!

I not sure he was always going to start this game? If Glob and/ or McDuffy would have thrown very few pitches and both were available tonight he might have waited until tomorrow? I think he is playing for one win in the series.

There's a decent chance they have to play Tuesday and Wednesday in a situation where a loss could end the season. Purposefully taking their best arm out of the mix for those two games would have been pretty silly.

Get this win tonight and let's wrap up an impressive series win against a desperate team.

I don't mean to give State too much credit, but I think there's a valid argument to be made that this is the 2nd toughest series on our schedule this year. Here's why I think that:
-Certainly the GT series was the toughest
-State is definitely tougher than @ ND, @ Cal, @ Duke, Louisville, Pitt, Indiana, or LeMoyne
-Other contenders for being a tougher series than State would be home vs BC, home vs UVA, home/road/neutral vs ECU, or I guess @ Clemson.

Gun to my head, I think @ State is tougher than those other series I mentioned in my 3rd bullet point above. I definitely think you'd have to give State the benefit of the doubt over the ECU series or the @ Clemson series. Could see an argument for home series against BC or UVA being tougher than @ State, but not sure I would agree with either of those being tougher.

I guess the one big caveat to mention is that Virginia WHEN WE PLAYED THEM was hot as a pistol, and NC State as we're playing them is really banged up without their 2 best arms.

Regardless, this series win would be a nice feather in our cap.

If Virginia and VT both win today, and we beat the wolpfack, the highest they could finish in the ACC standings is 9th. That definitely relegates them to playing on Tuesday.

i think BC, even at home, was a significantly tougher series than this one. they were ranked when we played them and are ranked now; this State team could miss the NCAAT entirely.

I think people forget these are college kids. NONE of them have the control we expect them to or the control professionals do. Even when they are in a groove, they can lose the plate quickly. Do people really think Decaro wanted to be “nibbling” in the 6th?? He just pitched the 5th almost perfectly. It wasn’t done painting the corners. You think a guy with such a high baseball IQ, along with his pitching coach and Forbes too… wanted him to walk those guys in the 6th up 6 runs, and asked him to not throw a strike out of worry of a ball leaving the yard if he did? He just didn’t execute and pound the zone for those two hitters, IMO.

I definitely don’t think home against BC is “significantly tougher” than @ NC State, but the two are comparable for sure. Reasonable minds can disagree about how much weight to place on the home/away difference. No question BC is having a better season than State in absolute terms.

Yes I do think we all forget how young these kids are. We are all just pulling for them and want them to do their best. I think one of the frustrating things though is when we get ahead maybe 0-2 or 1-2 , we throw a lot of non competitive pitches and seem to wind up 3-2 to several hitters. And I know we don’t want to make a mistake like Globe did 0-2. It is a tough position, but I think alot of the frustration comes from us just wanting them to succeed so bad . We all love UNC and especially hate state lol.

He’d, you may be right as Avent hyped how deserving we are to be #2 in the nation. However, tonight is a must win game for them because they need every W they can get this weeend & in the ACCT, imo.
Plus, they are Woofies & hate us more than anyone in all sports.🤡s

I can only listen to radio when playing state.
