We should have plenty of money. If donors are truly freezing out Pope then they need to go ahead & fire him. What’s the point, otherwise? It’s not fair to Pope, the team OR the fans to withhold money, NOW.

And, there’s no need to waste a season & bring him back if he doesn’t have the support. Either let him go or give him what he needs. Handcuffing him at this point isn’t helping ANYTHING.

I get it that they likely don’t trust him to spend it properly. But, we’re in the endgame & not much left to choose from, anyway. I’m not happy at all with Pope, but, this isn’t the way.

I know I’m making a big assumption. But, why else wouldn’t we have the money to compete here?! ESPECIALLY if Moreno stays in the draft.

I don’t think the money is the problem.

Louisville (God forbid they land him) better pray to whoever they believe in that they win a natty next season, because if not they’ll never hear the end of it. You don’t go and spend that much to just make it far (in their case, anything less than a championship game appearance is a failure)

I would hope not. But, that’s what I inferred from that quote. “It’ll take deep pockets to land him” & it’s down to UL & St John’s. Made it sound like we can’t compete with them on the money. Doesn’t make sense considering how much UL has already spent & that we don’t really have any super expensive guys.

There’s nothing gonna be done until Barney’s gone on June 30. And there may be there could be a possibility that a new A.D. just go ahead and cans pope especially early on in season so you can get ahead on finding a new coach. We wait we’re gonna hire somebody. We’re gonna wait for somebody to make a run. Wait for them until early April. Hoping that that’s gonna work then let’s say we land a coach. Hiring a coach at lake makes it hard to field the team.

We just have to get rid of Mark Fox on June 30 because I couldn’t handle that guy as an interim coach

Disagree. Goodman is the biggest UK troll ever.
He’s one of them, but he hasn’t been with Pope at the helm. I think he’s just calling it as he sees it. Momolivic if he plays college next year he’s gonna command top dollar and Pope can’t get into a bidding contest. He just doesn’t have the money behind him. I think if we had a new athletic director last year as we should have you know we we will be right now gearing up for a hopeful season.. I don’t I don’t like Goodman either but this instance we just don’t have the money

Louisville has Papa John throwing 30 million dollars minimum into their NIL war chest. You ever been to Louisville? You think these kids are going there for the beer cheese? It’s straight simple. Duke, Louisville, Indiana in football, they have big money backing them and we don’t. I just saw a report today we are 9th in SEC in raising funds. No way to compete against that. These cat was never coming here. He’s going where the money is, simple.

I think what those Donors had better think about is what all those coaches that they believe will trip over themselves to come here because we are Kentucky are going to think when they see a guy who played here, had a good first season, a subpar, but injury filled second season, get his budget cut in half by donors while being crucified by half this fanbase. I think we will hear a lot of thanks but no thanks

Not so much Papa John’s but a large late additional influx from Katy Schneider. This is their one shot, they won’t spend half as much next year and with the current roster they will lose 10+ games again IMO.

Yeah just can't imagine anything would be done when we ostensibly don't have an AD right now.
The silver lining in this is that we don't have to go through a coaching search led by Barny again.

It just feels like the Kentucky brand is being hurt by this. The Pope experiment has been a failure so far, no one can really deny that. And now donors are apparently holding back (can't blame them) and we are getting outbid for every top tier player. It gets more embarrassing the longer this goes.

Pope is frozen out. But it’s his own fault. Yes, it signals the end and he should be fired.

You said they were out of money the first week of the portal. Now they won't have it next year. OK
They were and they received more, not that hard to comprehend. Louisville is a school whose athletic program is hemorrhaging money and is having to cut programs every D1 school has, so yes they won’t be able to continue to spend this way. It’s unsustainable in the long run, come back in 3-4 years and you’ll see I’m right.
