I didn’t know Joe W and the Murray’s were guards?!? 🤔 But on those teams, the guards especially Fran’s son, would not have started on any ncaa tournament type power 5 team. That’s a fact.

I actually love Dolph for the Maishe Dailey comment. It showed even though he’s forced to publicly drink the cool-aid, he felt like all other Iowa fans when it came to just the parade of guards that Iowa State was getting and Iowa couldn’t even get a single guard. Still pretty unfathomable the guard play we had to endure under Fran.

Fran & Margaret tried to get Gary fired on 2 different occasions:

* In November 2018, Dolphin found himself in hot water after he criticized the program’s recruiting efforts and made comments directed at Iowa guard Maishe Dailey that inadvertently made it to air during a commercial break.

“How do we not get anybody like that?” Dolphin said. “We just don’t -- year after year. Just get one. We get Maishe Dailey. Dribbles into a double team with his head down. God.”

* On Feb 21, 2019, Gary referred to Maryland’s Bruno Fernando as “King Kong” during the closing moments of the game. Hawkeye Sports Properties, the multimedia rights manager for Iowa’s athletic department, then announced that Dolphin would be suspended for the rest of the season.

The was nothing wrong with Dolph’s King Kong remark. Just an overreaction from people who look to manufacture racism in anything.

I attended a game a couple of years ago involving IC West. Jack McC was their star player. The game was very close, a foul was called on Jack, who proceeded to yell F*** Off to the official, was given a tech foul. Fran and Marg went bananas, screaming at the refs.
The next 8-10 min, all calls went in favor of IC West and they won easy.

Last year, I attended a game and Kent McCausland was there to watch his son. I think it was Waterloo West and his son Jay were playing. Kent was very reserved and only cheered quietly for his son and team. This was refreshing to see. He carried himself with class.

Did you mean daft?
Yes, thank you....
Opinions being expressed on a message board? Never heard of such a thing. Surely a sign the apocalypse is near.
If we get another extreme sign, something like you having a good post that would be two of three signs.
Lolol.."opinions"are not telling someone else what they should say, do , or who they should associate with. Sorry that's above your head evidently. Sorry, you don't like my posts, (like I'd care).....

She had exceptional basketball talent and a bankable brand. She was getting paid. Whether she could have gotten better deals (made better decisions) is unknown.
"Better" I guess, although she has a high profile agency working for her, so I'll just assume they know more about what they're doing then I , or pretty much anyone on here would. The lady is only 24? She's made about 30+ million dollars in the last 4 years. I think she'll be okay.

Most of the media and half this message board wanted Dolph’s career destroyed since the early 2000s
Fify for accuracy.

You're either indifferent to Dolph at this point, or you're easily bothered by everything this world has to offer and he is included in that vast umbrella of pettiness and you've wanted him gone for years if not decades.

Those are the only options at this point in his run as the voice of Iowa FB and BB.

She's set for life. That wasn't the question or point of discussion.

She may make great basketball decisions and good business deals. That doesn't mean becoming part of the McCaffery clan is also a good move. They're still tool bags and some of that is going to rub off on her in one way or another. That said, a lot of Iowa fans have deified her to the point that they don't recognize some of the same qualities in her.

For all her great qualities she's a super type A persona. Think MJ. Kobe, Tiger. There are many people who would NOT have considered any of those guys as "nice " people. We should not kid ourselves. Its hard to be that on the court and someone totally different off the court. The stories of having to ban her from classes in school because she got too "competitive", and need to bring in a specialist to work with her on how she could "fit" in a team concept while at Iowa. There's baggage that come with someone that has to win at everything they do.

Let me get with the board police and let them know that they need to preface their opinion with 'I think' simple enough even for you. So going forward to express an opinion they shall be required to go 'I think CC should distance herself from the McCaffery family' there, I hope that helps you deal with people who have differing views that you. As far as like/not like your posts, if you have a good post that will be a good start for you.

Yeah, I get the hyper-competitive angle. That's nothing new. Being able to tolerate, even embrace the McCaffery family (which we're learning more and more about) is another thing.

Pretty much any basketball coach in the country would have been an upgrade over Lickliter, so I don't think Fran deserves much credit for "bringing the program back." And given this info, it makes Barta look even worse, if that's possible. How the hell people like Barta and Fran keep their jobs for so long at a place like the U of Iowa baffles me. They didn't deserve those jobs and were as replaceable as a slice of bread. Thank goodness we finally have people of intergrity and transparency running things now with Beth Goetz and Ben McCollom.
Let's just admit it, Barta was an idiot and should have been canned multiple times. Beth runs circles around him. That hush, hush extension was also a joke. Truly pissed me off. Glad Barta and the Fran clan are gone. Especially Connor.

The amazing thing about this forum is just how personal posters both take and deliver their thoughts. Maybe YOU should grow the heck up. Its a message board. Say what you want, just as I can. And if you really think people posting here about just what Clark should do, don't actually think because they've supported her that this doesn't give them some investment, I'll just beg to differ. Maybe we should all just live our life and worry less about how she lives hers.
As for the board police, I thought that was YOU, given how you think its your place to decide whose posts are good or not worthy for your consumption.

Sure, its another thing for most of us. Maybe its not a stretch for her. Maybe she's closer to their thoughts then we may believe. I followed her and still do, because she's a unique generational player. Doesn't mean i'd want her marrying my son, or being her friend, anymore then i'd probably chum around with Jordan or Larry Bird if I had the chance. Not sure they're really nice people either

I always wonder what Coach Heller’s talks with his assistant baseball coaches were like when Connor was on the team and played that one seaon. “Like, guys, I know Connor’s our worst field player and barely batting his weight, but you really want me to piss off Fran and bench him??”

Hmmm, so maybe she really does make good decisions....
She is such a hot commodity that I can imagine multiple suitors were throwing bags of money at her. You don't know if her agent pushed a deal that was better for him or for her and she was too trusting.

Who knows but maybe a poor decision caused her to miss an earning potentional of more than she has already made.

I know what he’s trying to say but I disagree. It was clear Barta (and thus the U of I) were going to side with Fran on everything so if you’re a journalist trying to cover stuff and you lose your credentials, it makes it hard to do your job.

The can of worms only got unsealed because of Murph (probably the most popular sports media member in Iowa) begrudgingly allowed it this week. He didn’t want to insert himself into a story for all these years.

You are trying a little too hard. Maybe mix in some decaf. I don’t believe I can control whether people feel they have an investment in how CC lives her life. Fairly certain I haven’t expressed an opinion either way.
I did have to chuckle at your

‘it’s your place to decide whose posts are good or not worthy for your consumption’

Ummmm, am I expected to ask you ‘hey, is this post worthy for my to consume?’ Ask others on the board?
How about I just continue to decide what I want to read. It’s a solid approach that has been working well for me. Nice effort on your part. Keep trying.

Stop.

The team with Weezy and the Murray's started 4 guards.

Yes, Weezy was listed as a guard.

Was Fredrick not starting at Kentucky for a while? Clearly, injuries got the best of him.

Connor led the nation in assist/TO ratio, that season.

And, although JBo was certainly polarizing, there are places that would have welcomed his numbers

Hassel and Dochterman, yesterday, talked in depth (in separate podcasts) about what the McCaffreys were like. Good riddance. Fortunately, we ended up with McCollum. We know he's a great guy. Hopefully, he can have continued success on the court for many years as well.

Not at all surprising to hear that about Kent. Seemed like a class act on the court too.
