Interesting concept. Also funny in that Florida State was the first school to look at private equity funding but a deal could not be reached.

Innovation and thinking outside the box. 2 things Seton Hall historically has been in short supply of. We should get on this now. Be an early adopter of a trend for a change to give us an edge. If Nova and Xavier are doing it, we can do it. The key is this is not for NIL, it is revenue for the school to use as they see fit. That should make it easier to get broad engagement when selling it.

Interesting that the CEO and founder looks like he came up with the idea Weil attending college as a student athlete at Gettysburg.

Assuming they get part of the transaction revenue as well.

I like it. We won't have the reach to match the impact of a Florida State, but it's nice to see what feels like a practical and sustainable idea in a space filled with gimmicky ones.

A Diocesan University getting in bed with Private Equity? I highly doubt that would happen personally. Maybe the Saudi's will get involved with us - lol.

Private equity investments are in all the investment portfolios of ours and all schools' endowments. Private equity is the largest source of capital in US - more than public companies.

Mbraue absolutely correct on all counts.

There is a huge difference in investing in private equity as part of an investment portfolio vs. partnering with them and or giving them potential ownership of a % of future revenue streams from our basketball program. Private equity is looking for future revenue streams and my point is it would be doubtful for a Catholic Diocesan University to get into that type of partnership. Not saying its impossible but saying its doubtful. The Jesuits would have to give it a try first - lol.

Almost word for word what a source at the school told me this morning.
