I know Burns, Shelby, and Lincolnton feel like they are legit title contenders this upcoming football season. Who else feels like they have enough to contend for one this year?
Stormsurge, thanks for the encouragement. I have high hopes for the wolves, this year, too, but at this level (3A) an injury to a key player in the backfield or line can have a really bad effect. Actually, I have to give them credit, Maiden can lose players to graduation and still come up with someone to fill the gap.

In baseball, Lincolnton didn't make the playoffs, but several good games coming up this week that are close by or within an easy driving distance: North Davidson is at North Lincoln; Forbush is at Lincoln Charter; East Lincoln is at Crest and Hickory is at South Point.

*Side Note: All the best to the SC Cramer storm as they travel up the mountain, and to our classy and more recent poster Stormsurge.

*Post Script: In the Hickory at South Point game, I have a bit of a dilemma. The head baseball coach, at South Point in his first season, is from Lincolnton. I've known him since he was born. Also know his parents and knew both of his grandfathers, all good people.

On the other hand, Hickory is home to my dear friend and rabid Hickory supporter (in many ways), On3 poster "Cheerduck." Also have family and sentimental ties to the Red Tornadoes, too.

*Side Note: I know many of you have seen Cheerduck's comments on these message boards, even though he only comments when he feels like the need arises. So, if you've ever wondered about who he is, let me say he's a distinguished looking fellow, but in an ordinary way, with more of a British appearance... Even so, I've included his photo here:

Hibriten is a fun place to watch a game but that damn cannon got me a couple times. Luckily both times I've been to Hibriten it ended well for us.
With the RPI way of determining seeding it will be hard for anybody in our conference to have a lot of home games. We don’t have as tough of non conference schedule as you, Shelby, or Lincolnton, but that still has us needing at least 2 out of those 3 to get a 2-4 seed. Hibriton or one of the mountain teams will probably go undefeated and get the 1 seed unless you guys or us go undefeated which is highly unlikely. Also highly unlikely Shelby or Lincolnton go undefeated so we all might get one or maybe two home games and then hit the road. Kudos to the top half of our conference.

Don’t know the baseball coach at SP personally but with me living in Belmont and being a grad I keep up with SP and know a lot of the boys on the team and their families very well and I will say they are all very happy with the job he has done this year. Seems like a great guy and a phenomenal baseball mind.

Home field advantage is nice but its also nice to visit other places and away crowd is always better. Your most passionate fans travel.

This was at track. He also told me his son caught a td that should have counted. I was like that makes 2 of us 🤣
Oh, our golf coach is our former football coach so I assumed you were talking about him because his son was our QB before last year and is a rising senior. However since you were at track, I’m not sure what coach he would be talking about since we don’t have any coaches son on the team that plays QB.

Thats probably what he was talking about. He said he played qb and didnt do that well and changed positions but might play it again.

Pretty good spring ball for the Wolves!! Heard the most they had at practice was 62 players!! On average low 50’s!! I Circled the loop by the stadium for 1 day after I got off work!! I counted 58 players!!
So the numbers are up from last year tremendously!! Not bad for a 3A school with a little over 700 kids
