I'm so happy for BS! He was a hell of a wrestler and is an even better human being. It's truly amazing he's fully recovered and healthy enough to take this on.

He always was an amazing tactician and I can see that mindset really playing dividends with his crew.

It's not the slam dunk nuclear hire we've all wanted, but I truly do think it's one that is going to look even better within a few years.

Sorenson was/is probably my favorite Hawkeye to have watched wrestle in the past decade or so. Well, Caliendo and sorenson, whichever order. Both guys could've been multi time national champs if not for freaks in their weight classes. Glad sorenson is taking on a new challenge, hope he crushes it for you guys!
Funny you say this. I just watched these 2 go live goes a few months ago. It was very one sided. A lot of take downs to very few maybe 1.

I really like Sorenson and am happy to see he is part of the program. However, this is not the grand slam hire Iowa needs to get back to the top level atm.

It was a shame to think back on how his career ended. He was a great guy.
True but if I remember right he took the fall for his guys which right or wrong I think is commendable

There was nothing commendable in what he did. Overall, not a bad guy or anything, but not his best moment.
If there is such a thing as Purgatory, I will definitely look for you when I get there. As judgmental as you are, you must be so squeaky clean, you shouldn’t be making more than a pitstop there, if not going straight to, and right through, the pearly gates…

This couldn't be a wilder overreaction to my post.

The facts are the facts. His judgement was poor. Not his best moment. He did many, many other good things.

Man is not saved by acts alone (good or bad), so cool it with the purgatory talk, big guy.

No, it’s a normal reaction to you being an ******* and looking down on people.. it’s the exact reaction you want.

If pointing out someone taking the law into his own hands, destroying evidence, and lying about it which lead to his firing is me “looking down on someone” I guess I’m ok with that. Oh, and never mind that I also said good things about him as well. 🤦‍♀️

He treated his guys like most parents would instead of just an employer. He made a deal with them to end it all right then and there. They complied and he held up his end as a result, to the point where he died on his own sword. If you don't see the honor in that, even if you disagree with the methods, again, you are entirely too judgmental...

i was pointing out you just like to say things to sound superior to others. If you couldn't talk down would you even talk?

That's not really a knock on Mikey imo. Brandon is more in his prime despite the cancer and I know so many guys that were state finalist/champs that in late 20/ early 30's are just so much better now after having coached for a few years. Amazing how it mentally slows down and the techniques sharpen after being on that side of it.

In an interview posted by Chad Leistikow today Tom Brands discussed coaching changes. Two major things of note. 1 Sorenson has been the head coach of HWC since last fall, but they just now made the announcement. 2 there was only one call other than Jacob Warner made during the coaching search. It was a guy from outside of the program, but brands decided he wanted to keep it in house.

And Tom said the guy "outside the program" seemed luke warm and that's when they just decided not to mess around and stay in house.
