Honestly, you’d have to go all the way back to 2015 for the last time I thought we had THE best team entering the tournament.

2017 comes close. But, you know, they were only a 2 seed, so there’s certainly were a few teams that played better than us that regular season. I saw us as “one of” the favorites that year, but not THE favorite.

Pre season: last year…lol just being brutally honest. The hype was up there, and I bought all the way in. Shame on me

Entering the tournament: remember being devastated when Covid cancelled the tourney. SEC poty Quickley, now NBA All Star Maxey, defensive ace Hagans. Our bigs left a little to be desired that year, but those 3 guards were good and we were catching fire at the right time, if I remember correctly.

2017 deserved a 1 seed. They were screwed again and again.

Herro's team definitely and the following year with Maxey, Quickley and Hagans. Great guard play could have taken us a long way before covid ended it.
Yeah, Covid ended our last real hope. That team was legit bc it forced Cal to play a 3 guard lineup when Whitney quit. We had just enough bench depth it eliminated the need for substitutions just to distribute "happy" minutes.

I thought Oscars first year had a chance. One of his years. Im getting confused on the rosters but the year we wiped Kansas off the floor I was like yea we got a chance.
After we beat Kansas that year I thought we could. Entering the tournament though the cracks were starting to show. I thought 2019 was actually going to do it. Once Auburn beat UNC and Michigan State beat Duke I really thought we would do it. Keldon Johnson should have pulled it out after getting that offensive rebound at the end of regulation and set up PJ Washington to get a last second shot, but of course he takes a dumb shot and gets blocked like he did ALL YEAR!!!

Yea that year I felt good also. Keldon johnson has turned into a star in the NBA. Him and PJ are like tier one role players. I think Keldon just got sixth man of the year

Really felt like the COVID year took a good chance at a title away. I know some will disagree with what I'm about to say but junior year Nick Richards was a force imo in college. Guy went from another player to almost dominat. Along with the guards we had.

I wish we could become title contender soon. I’d like to experience one with my son. We went to cleveland in 2015 and that was great to get him hooked but he doesn’t remember the 2012 team. And he loves UK basketball. Would be great to party with my son celebrating a national championship.

Last team I thought was a legit contender as one of the best 2 to 3 teams in college basketball was 17 with Fox, Monk, and Bam. 19 was the last team that I thought had a shot if they got hot in the tourney. Was not one of the top 2 to 3 teams but capable of beating any team if playing well.

After that 20 was the worst team in UK history. I did not like the players, their play, etc... Only UK team I ever hated.
21 and 22 at least we had Oscar
23 was a frustrating year because top talent did not play well as team had high rankings but played Meh!!!
24 was fun but injuries were frustrating
25 team had bad chemistry and was hard to watch.

the 2017 E8 loss will always be up there for me, that was a team I thought was peaking at the right time. Probably the last UK NCAAT loss that really bummed me out (others shocked me, but that one really got me down). There were some other teams I thought had a chance to get to the FF, but didn't really look at them as title favorites (19 and Oscar's first team).

24 was NOT fun

12 losses and many blowouts, talent dip in that year as well
