His lists consists of Kentucky, Louisville and St. Johns.

If he wants to play for a contender you go with Rick Pitino.

If you want to play for a potential contender with the roster, you go with Louisville. Even though Pat Kelsey is still unproven

If you want to come for the big stage, probably play a system for your play than the others but play for a goofy guy who may or may not improve you, pick Kentucky.

Either way, the best scenario is he goes to UK.
Second best is he stays in draft so no one else gets him.
Worst case, its another massive Pope Whiff and goes to Louisville or St. Johns.

Any school he goes to becomes a contender

He's not coming here. He was never coming here. His team wiped the floor with UK 2 months ago while laughing at us. He would never play for Pope.
More or less, you are correct… Main reason being, Pope doesn’t have access to the necessary NIL to “outbid” UofL or St. Johns, or Florida for that matter!

It’s starting to get a little weird, after 3 years of this, that some fans still think that Pope is going to win a SINGLE recruitment against any of the usual suspects for a star recruit/ player!

Like, it’s literally not going to happen… We just have to stop expecting it to, for our own sake.

Kentucky the "poor state" that many doubted actually could afford a $22 million dollar roster last year is somehow allowing one city in that same state to outshine the entire state?

Something ain't adding up.
Oh, it’s adding up, however many of us, and I was one of those up until recently, haven’t accepted the reality of the situation yet…

And that is, the boosters either have not, or will not, give Pope the necessary $$$ to compete with the major NIL players in the sport!

It’s literally simple as that!

Why is Pope sitting there letting Louisville get every player on the market

Probably true because Stein and company are not having any issues right now

I mean part of it is probably this: the big donors soend big last year for bad results. They ate freezing the guy out because they have no confidence in him. That’s why he should have been fired.

On the local news today in Louisville, the UL AD was being asked about why they are spending all this money on buying players when UL and the athletic department are all running in the red.
The AD stated he felt the players should be paid and that going forward, this spending is not sustainable.

UL might enjoy this free spending this year for it seems the programs UL is cutting are screaming bloody murder over all this for ball players.

I don't see any of the 3 as contenders honestly. St John's roster doesn't look that impressive,Louisville seems vastly overrated and we know UK's issues.
Not wrong. But Rick is clearly the better coach of the 3. UofL has a crazy roster, but Kelsey is also not proven like Pope. But at least Kelsey can recruit.

As of today, what is UL top 10 players?
My understanding:
PG: Shelstad and Johnson
SG: Wooley and Montgomery
SF: Knox
PF: Alvaro
Big: Flory and Obinna

then you get the Asian kid, Dynes, Ellis group. Probably room for 1 more contributor and depth/walk on types after that is my read on it as a UK fan. Similar to us in the group mainly being set outside of one more real player(people just seem to like their roster more than ours lol)

So this is what pope was talking about when he said recruits use Kentucky for nil leverage. This right here tells me, Milan has 0 interest in playing for uk. Why would he have them on the list? Nil leverage and nothing more.

Honestly, I'm not sure any of those coaches are winning titles in today's game.

Pitino is too fixated on low scoring games that focus on defense, his teams don't score like true contenders do. Houston is the only team I've seen get close and that's because they are better offensively than SJ is.

Kelsey, LOL, that guy isn't winning sh*t and neither is pope.

If mom's goal is to get drafted, take the biggest stage and make a name for yourself.

Some people just can't see it. You'll have somebody say prove it that they were laughing at us. If I remember correctly they actually were literally laughing at us and hoping to play us. But you gotta prove it man

Question is, how did Pitino, with a better team at full strength, lose to a terrible UK team with mid-major-pope coaching it?

Can't be because Lowe and JQ played, they suck and the team was worse when they played. So, how the heck did we win that game?

Disagree. Respectfully.

Even if we were to add him I don’t think that makes us a contender to win the title.
Any team can get hot and go on a run. Hubert Davis did it and so did that 2014 UConn team that lost to UL by 30 just before the tournament.

FAU made the FF, Illinois-Chicago made the FF recently.

Craxier things have happened. Sometimes teams click at the right time and even though Pope has his flaws, he’s still a damn good offensive coach.

You just can't ever say never.

OP, this is NOT the kind of example we should be setting as a fanbase. If you can't see the positives in Pope (he has them, ALL coaches have positives), then I don't know what to tell you. If he was playing for Pope, this would be an elite team.
100%! The guy has dealt with injuries, roster turnover, and expectations that would crush 99% of coaches, and he’s still building something with an actual identity. Spacing. Shooting. Development. Culture.
It’s all there if you’re actually watching.

This made me think - are the NIL donor businesses and individuals scheming in the state to drive up market or drive people to UL? Who's going to stop them? There are currently no rules on the NIL program (or at least no enforcement).
