Bennett Stirtz a projected Lottery Pick at #10

It will be interesting to see where Stirtz ends up among all-time single season Hawkeye scorers. At present, he has 490 points. We have 7 regular-season games remaining, and I would guess we will have at least 2 post-season games (hopefully more). At his current scoring average of 20.4 points per game, that would put Stirtz somewhere in the neighborhood of 674 points for the season, good enough for 6th on the all-time list, and just one point behind Roy Marble’s 675.

AJ has been playing at times, point forward. He's 6'9 and he has really good handles going to the rim. He made a couple of bad passes in the Texas game, and another on a missed cut by a teammate. "Not a gifted ball handler". Excuse me? For his size, skill level, and what's been asked of him, especially after Saunders went down, I'd say he's been doing quite well. He tries to set up the others on offense, but if they don't make shots or create for themselves, then he has to be relied on more offensively. The NBA will be perfect, as the game slows down for him there. He kind of reminds me of a bigger Malik Monk, minus the swagger of Monk. "The Big 12's Freshman of the Year has done his part to make the No. 1 race interesting, currently leading the NCAA in scoring while also showing growth as a decision-maker. He was playing his best basketball of the season before teammate Richie Saunders tore his ACL on Feb. 14, an injury that sent BYU on a late-season backslide. In what has become a real debate for the No. 1 pick, some around the NBA have come to view Dybantsa as a safer option than Peterson. He's not as gifted a ball handler or shooter but might have more untapped upside from a physical and skill perspective, as well as on the defensive end.
The Wizards keep this pick (otherwise owed to the New York Knicks) if it falls inside the top eight. Trae Young made his debut last week and Anthony Davis' return remains unclear, but this could be Washington's last dip into the high lottery for a while."
Do you think the Kings draft Darryn Peterson (Kansas freshman; 2025-26 stats: 19.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists in 20 games)?
His issues with cramping, missing so many games AND THEN taking himself out of games has to be a major red flag.
I haven't been following the Kings as closely as I used to. I know early on, Deuce and Mo' were really high on AJ. Not sure where the other media is standing on AJ vs Peterson. All I do know is that, given the Kings' luck or lack thereof in the Draft Lottery, if AJ is available IMO, I'd get him. He would fill a Forward spot for them. With Keegan out, Precious Achiuwa and AJ could be lethal once they fully develop. Precious has been shown to be really good so far, especially rebounding, and he can score.

Here's where my mock draft stands two days before the Final Four:
19. Toronto Raptors
Bennett Stirtz, 6-4, Iowa senior guard
Stirtz feels the game at a different frequency than everyone else on the floor, and yet still makes scouts squint because he doesn't look the part athletically. At age 24 for a rookie, he’s also on the older end. The question isn't whether he can play though. After transferring from Drake to Iowa, he kept cooking with bull’s-eye passes, pump-fakes and shooting touch off the dribble from NBA range. The odds are that’ll carry over to the next level, especially if he lands on a team like the Raptors that can surround him with size, length and versatility. And Toronto needs another offensive engine; if Stirtz adjusts to the physicality and speed of the NBA, he could thrive as both a floor general or off-ball connector.The Full Story:

Depends on how he does in the Combine. Don't know how he stacks up in the measurables. Maybe he's got a decent shot at top 20. I hope so anyway. He may be NBA-ready with the maturity and skills that he has.

Most mock drafts I have seen have Bennett around the 20th pick...
He's very mature, very unselfish with the ball (maybe to a fault), makes good decisions with the ball, and is great in the pick and roll which is big in the NBA. He shot 36% from 3 and 59% from the field and averaged just under 20/game. He was 85% from the line. He also finished in the top 100 in Ast/TO Ratio at #96 (2.40). Obviously, his minutes will be much fewer going forward, but with his abilities to shoot and defend, I believe he should be ok. Hoping for a good Combine for him. Most importantly, his teammates love him and he feels the same about them. Plays the right way. The scouts know this as well, and this should stand him in good stead.

Ben is after several highly rated 2027 point guards. Hopefully these prospects clearly see that Ben is really good at developing point guards and getting them to the next level.
