who would you want on the mound? my favorite baseball player of all time is Pedro. Maddox is my favorite non Sox. But it has to be Rivera as much as I hate it.
Maddox didn't shine in the postseason the way Pedro did. Lifelong Braves fan here, but Pedro in his prime was about as good as I've ever seen.

Barry Bonds without hesitation.
A very good answer. Bonds batted lefty, and Ryan was a righty. Moreover, Bonds' read and react time was incredible. By that I mean the time between his decision to swing and the bat getting through the middle of the plate. It allowed him to wait just a fraction of a second longer in deciding whether to swing, and that helped him against power pitchers (like Ryan). Ted Williams would also be a good choice.

Stan Musial in his prime dwarfed TG. More hits, more doubles, more triples, way more home runs, double the RBIs and almost the exact same amount of Ks. While Musial averaged only 8 more Ks/season than TG, he had almost 2,000 more total bases. Power plus bat control...

Ted Williams was right there too but never led the league in hits or triples, struck out even more than Musial. All his walks added to his big OPS, but missing 5 years due to military service skews his prime stats...
