I had to do a double glance because I thought this guy wasn't alive... Well he has some good experience and coached Peyton Manning, What can it hurt??... Still waiting for our WR coach gift from God to show some miracles.

did we bring him back from total retirement or has he been professionally active (in football)? if the former, i would surmise that he outkicked his retirement account and kirk did what any bro would

I believe he was in a similar role in Tampa last season.

I love to see it. The man doesn’t want to just pack it in, he wants to be around what he loves. It likely keeps him going.

Yes. He was a consultant for the Bucs for the past 7-8 years. The last bowl game was conveniently in Tampa and KF had him meet with the team.

No, he's not young. And he likely knows literally nothing of social media, Gen Z slang, etc. that would naturally allow him to have instant "aura" with 18-23 year olds.

But there's one thing the players will absolutely know and respect...he turned his stint playing quarterback at Iowa into a 60+ year career in football, including working with Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Carson Palmer and Baker Mayfield, and ultimately being part of FOUR Super Bowl championships in the process.

That's undeniable football rizz. 😎

Sure is a lot of stupid in this thread.

I’m sure Tampa Bay, Tennessee, and Arizona were all just doing him a solid hiring him in his 70’s and 80’s recently too, right.

Because that’s what is most important to NFL teams, taking care of old coaches that bring nothing to the table, winning be damned.

He was a graduate assistant coach for us from 1961-1962. Must be weird taking a job with your old employer after being away for 64 years.

Legendary NFL coach Tom Moore was the senior offensive assistant/consultant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2019 through the 2025 season before announcing his retirement in January, 2026.

4 months into retirement, he apparently got bored.

In all, Moore has won 4 Super Bowl rings — two with the Steelers (1978, 1979), one with the Colts (2006), and one with the Buccaneers (2020). Now, 64 years after leaving Iowa, his career is coming full circle.

Should really be able to connect with the recruits… of the Vietnam War.

Kidding aside, is there anything more KF than this?

Nothing more than bringing in a person that knows far more about football than every forum poster on every site, every team, combined.

You proved you know about 0.0000000000000000% of his football knowledge when you mentioned recruits.

Glad to see Kirk continues to invest in the offense. Welcome back, Coach Tom!

Tom's 87, so KF must feel like a kid next to him. Smart move.

Maybe Tom will be the key to figuring out a plan to win on the West Coast. Iowa needs some help in that regard, especially how to deal with the key 3-game stretch of @ Michigan, Ohio State, and @ Washington on Friday night. With all his years of experience, if anybody should know the secret, you'd think it would be Tom Moore. If he can provide some insights there, that alone would be worth it.

I like to think it's Kirk understanding the importance of the offense and investing in its future. You have some individuals stupid enough to think its not important, but Kirk gave them the middle finger with this hire.
