This sucks so much. You never heard a bad word about the guy as a teammate and through his interactions with fans and media. Knowing all of the injuries he had to battle, and now this. Yeah I'm fearful of what else we're going to learn.

Dude was a blast to watch when he was at Gonzaga.
Helped lead them to #1 in rankings a couple times and had some huge games.
Man amongst boys, at times.

I found an article on TMZ that paints a pretty bad story. I also learned about a new drug kratom.

I especially liked the paragraph that since he is dead the court case can not proceed.

Court officials had scheduled Clarke to appear before a judge on May 15 ... that was before he suddenly died yesterday ... and the case now cannot proceed in light of the tragic news.

TMZ story

Then I read a story about this Kratom that it is sold as a herbal supplement. I has many properties of opiods with pain relief. The article said it is thought to be safer because it is plant-based. ..... Aren't opiods plant-based? Doesn't opiods come from the opium poppy? Isn't a poppy a plant?

Do people not read what they write?

I don't believe the intention is to compare Kratom with opium (fully plant-based) or even heroin (semi-plantbased/semi-synthetic) but to compare it to the fully synthetic drug Fentanyl which is killing so many people. The risks of Fentanyl are many many times greater than opium or even heroin because it is so strong. While it is an opioid, it comes from chemicals made in a lab, not a plant.

I believe kratom is what killed Matthew Perry (or at least one of the things). Purportedly, elmo musk is also a big fan of it.

I went to a game at Globe Life Field 2 seasons ago. The bar outside the stadium in the courtyard for the stadium was sponsored by Kratom

Yeah, opiods are poppy plant based. I don't know where this ides that plant-based is somehow safe. A lot of plants can flat out kill you in a minute if you eat them.

Kratom is weird because at low doses it acts as a stimulant but a high doses that acts as a sedative. It's isolated from a tree in SE Asia and is not yet federally regulated in the US.

Kratom bans seem to be gaining a bit of traction in states.

I wont miss the 'KRATOM SOLD HERE' signs in my metro, if it is actually banned.
Shops that sell Kratom and vape = a strong indicator neighborhood retail is gonna struggle in coming years.
