OT: Canvas taken down during finals

(Again, another subject which should be on a Rutgers Issue board.)

Heard from Corey last night that he can only prep for one of his course as Canvas, which is the system with all of the data and coursework for college classes, was taken down by a hacking group. Apparently it's been brought back online at least partially, waiting to hear from him this morning.

They’re back in business. My students freaked but I was super glad to have an offline back up of my final that was very easy to enable.

PS: offline may be the wrong term…I meant non Canvas.

So in talking with someone here at work on our cyber security team, apparently this has been going on since 2019. The parent company just half-ásses patching the software and has never really fixed the vulnerabilities within the system.
