Nick Roush put Bama on notice.

I read the article and agree with many of the points Roush was trying to make. Alabama is still a good team, obviously, but they are no longer the juggernaut they were under Saban. And Roush is correct that Bama will be coming into this game largely blind about what we'll be doing on offense and defense. And as he points out, Bama under DeBoer often starts the season out a bit underwhelming. And he's known for having one or two complete stinker games each season.

While it isn't certain or even likely, the notion of Kentucky surprising this Alabama team early in the season isn't far-fetched at all. We have an improved team, greatly improved coaching and schemes, a new attitude and will be able to throw a lot of things at Alabama that they won't be expecting. With an energized fan base, we'll have the stadium rocking and it will be a hostile environment for Alabama to play in. And of course they'll be breaking in a new starting QB on his first real road test. If we can come out and play our A game and not make a bunch of mistakes, this is certainly one of those games where we have a decent chance to pull off an upset.

I don't mind Nick. And a UK writer predicting a big win at home shouldn't be any big motivation to Bama. If it is, they've fallen a lot further than we've thought.

Logically, his thoughts make sense. However, it would’ve been nice to enter this game without any chirping. I think everyone looks at the preseason rankings and assumes “Bama is down.” They’re not. Keon Russell, the No. 1 QB in his class, should be an upgrade at the position and will be in his second year under the offensive coordinator. They’ve vastly improved their running back room, their wide receiver room is stacked even without Noah Rogers, and they made major additions through the portal on the offensive line while also hiring a new OL coach. Their secondary will be the strength of their defense, but they also upgraded their defensive line, and their linebacker corps was very young last year and still performed well. The media is underselling this team, which takes the pressure off them. This is DeBoer’s best team at Bama.

Yeah I can't imagine their coaches are smart enough to watch several years of tape of Oregon's offense. They'll be so confused they'll truly be blind and running around in circles while we roll down the field with little resistance. They won't know what to do. *Boy we have some dumb fans.

The big dogs always have closer than comfortable games early in the season.

I’ve always said UK needs to do whatever they can to get UT, UGA, Bama…early.

This is even more true in a new era when the playing field has leveled.

I don’t want a top 5 in conference and most likely country coming in mid season full steam ahead…or pissed off having lost 1.

It’s why I always argued against “Oh let’s get Florida in November…”

As if Kentucky is arctic. November can be some of the nicest weather.

No let’s get them before they work out all their kinks and before our squad has been beat down and most likely tossed in the towel after the mid season 3-4+ game skid we always have. Hopefully that is in the past, but it was a thing.

Worst case scenario they run us out of the stadium. So what? Its Bama.

At the very least they exposed what needs to be worked on and woke the team and staff up. Something 3 OOC puffs and generally beatable SC, Vandy never did.

Didn’t listen to it because it’s Nick Rousch, but Alabama struggled on offense last season with a 1st Round draft pick on the roster. If you are going to pick a big upset for next season it would be having them at home early in the season. Don’t have a big issue with it, just drumming up content when the season is months away.

Yep I've heard this silliness for years like Lexington, Ky. is the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field in mid January. It almost never is. There's been a couple handfuls of really really cold November games in the last 50 years. I never understood the idiots who act like Florida or other deep south teams would freeze to death if they come to Lexington in November. I remember attending Curci's last game against Tenn. in 1981 and it was brutal. Florida in 1986 was awful too (a front blew in that Friday night and game time temps were probably low 20s and it did bother Florida. But very rare to get a really cold game here.

I think Bama football is in a lot of trouble in the NIL era. Count me as someone who thinks they will never really compete with the OSU's and Michigan's again.

Great post and I agree 100% ! But, it’s still dumb to give them anything to get them fired up even more than they would’ve been. lol. It’s going to be tough enough. I believe we have a great chance and hope we can pull it out.
