How do you think ISU football will be next year?

The gloom and doom of having nearly their entire roster transfer over to PSU… I think like 54 players? Or will they shock everyone and surprise and be a good team? I think they have an uphill battle (duh) but wanted to see what other Hawkeye fans think?

They have a new team that has never played together before, except for bits and pieces. They are going to lose many games, some in a fugly manner. If they somehow manage a 5-7 record clown fans should be ecstatic.

Best case scenario. May win at Baylor depending on how the new coach settles in.
I was wondering about Bowling Green, often one of the better teams in the MAC. But the Falcons travel to Nebraska the week before going to Clown College.

Not so sure bout that. They were 4-8 last year under a new coach. 7-6, 7-6, 6-7 in the years prior. Only two .500+ seasons in the last 10 years.

I looked into my black magic 8-ball, and it said "F*** Iowa State".

Baylor got Lagway FL transfer. Guess his dad was an alum so that game won’t be easy. But another school who got a great QB is Okie St. like Campbell at psu new coach brought a lot of his good players from N Texas that put up huge offensive numbers. Qb Mestemaker led nation in passing yards.

I asked buddy clone fan what he thinks and as he said he has no clue who half the team is or starters will be besides a handful like the qb. Wishes Jimmy would have provided a 2 deep after spring

Regardless of how their year turns out, Iowa has to beat them next year. Definitively. By multiple touchdowns. We must re-establish our dominance against a team that has no identity with players who have never experienced the Cy-Hawk rivalry. Personally, I see this as the most important game of the year because of that, and also where it falls. We have to go into B1G play undefeated if we want a shot at the playoffs.

I expect Iowa States defense to be decent next season as key players from Washington State moved to Ames, and their defense was pretty salty last year. Worst case scenario for Iowa in their game against Iowa State is for the Iowa offense to lay an egg and keep Iowa State in a low scoring game where anything can happen.
The Iowa State offense is an unknown. The QB is by all accounts a very good runner, and he does have a couple of receivers that will be pretty good. But the offensive line is a makeshift of players from schools like Montana State and North Dakota State etc, plus some who didn't go to Happy Valley and stayed with the Cyclones. It will be a work in progress and Iowa will be a tough ticket early in the season.
By all accounts it should be an Iowa win, but you never know in these games. Key is the Iowa offense scoring more than two touchdowns.

ESPN has picked them to finish dead last in the B12. I listened to the Two Guys podcast yesterday and the host who's a Cyclone fan thinks they should win 6 games.
Rogers accomplished a lot at SDSU. His brief stint as DC before being named HC was pretty impressive.

Tough to grade his one year at WSU but he did finish 6-6 with a rebuilt roster (WSU lost more than 50 players to transfer before he took over last year). But alas, he will face a tougher schedule with the ISU rebuild.

vs. Iowa: if Roger’s is able to keep the Iowa victory under 2TDs, Cyclone fans should be encouraged.

No matter how bad they are, Kirk will find a way to keep it close.

That salty defense gave up 59 points twice last year.

Kind of reminds me of the 2007 team with first-year coach Gene Chizik. They finished 3*-9

Expect the unexpected. Hope I'm wrong and this is the start of 100+ game losing streak. Wouldn't that be fun?

That said, I'll be crappin me drawers if the come into Kinnick and beat the Hawks this year. That would be so bad on so many levels.

Fear not, for I bring you tidings of great joy. In the fourth quarter of the 2026 game when Iowa's offense breaks the huddle, clown defenders will drop to their knees, clasp their hands together and tearfully beg for mercy. They will receive none.

I doubt the clowns will have a stellar record with 9+ wins. They have a new coach and coaches, probably a new scheme, lots of new players although many transferred with the head coach.

The Big 12 is not a strong conference so they could get lucky that some teams are down.

I only care that Iowa beats them and when Iowa loses to them it seems it is more Iowa giving them the game and it seems to be the one rival Kirk hasnt really fully figured out.

At the end of last year Iowa was a way better team than the clowns.

Dropping their 3-3-5 almost has to help them defensively.

Ceasar's has it 5.5 und -115 (pre tax).

Does a "fugly" loss count for more?
