I remember when openly asking for money could cause a recruit to get sent home like that(if they were'nt good enough to ask). It must take a quite large breach of etiquette to cause it these days.
After reading this I can honestly answer with I don’t understand.
Pope also struck out on all of our top targets

There are no doubt kids out there these days that are so "me" oriented that spending 3 hours with them is more than enough time to tell you that you want no part of them. It is too bad he couldn't see that Stokes possessed this same kind of character behind the mask.
How many kids have spent 3 hours or less with pope and said, nope, not for me, is the real question.

Just curious what’s going on with all these Anon accounts, I‘m not up to date with all the trends. It just seems odd to be me. Can anyone explain the logic behind it.
Kid probably wanted to get away from him ASAP and put on a performance.

Everyone here is going to support them if they play for Kentucky! EVERYONE!! Should fans not want to compete for a title anymore? Should everyone be happy with Kentucky being a mediocre basketball program.
Just because most fans aren’t happy losing 15 games a year and barely making the tournament, it doesn’t mean they’re not true fans supporting the team. They’re a couple trolls here for sure, but everyone else is as true blue as anyone in the country. Also, for all of us 50 and above, time is slipping away from us.
I am sure that recruiting young basketball players will find some of them are entitled little $hits that have been told how great they are all their lives. This has to be one of the worst parts of the job.

I'm glad we don't have a GM so we can waste time and resources bringing kids onto campus that we have no f'n idea if they actually are a legit option here or not.

So is he saying he tried for 3 hours to convince a player? I admire the grit but if the kid is that dumb, we didn’t want him anyways. Got to find a way to sway that pendulum back the other way. Does Tom Izzo wait 3 hours? Scheyer wait 3 hours? Hell did Tom Crean wait 3 hours?
Not sure what Ethan Mgbako is like, but big brother Mack Mgbako may be the most disconnected, obtuse young kid I've ever seen in college basketball.

Perhaps the lameness is why I don't see it (because I've only seen this person throw out this crap).
This goes to the same point i keep making: pope has zero feel for this. How could he not know beforehand this kid was such a bad fit? If it happened this quick in person, it was obvious before and he just missed it.
Even worse, word is elite level players are getting paid to just visit. If that's the case, someone literally took our money that we should've weeded out before. Even if not, an official visit costs us operational money and that was wasted.
So what he thought sounded like a power play was really just more proof of how far he is out of his league.
Pope just keeps getting played in every way imaginable. He just doesn't get it. Now he refuses to hire someone that gets it. That is why he is failing here and will continue to fail.

Alex Wilkins is....also ranked 36.
Alex Wilkins is 6'4, while Wilkinson is 6'1. Calipari can get a guy like Wilkinson because he has a couple elite, athletic freshmen guards coming in. Wilkinson is his Johnell Davis or DJ Wagner.

I know he missed on targets. We just don't know how many. People here have used the 14 visits as the number of misses. But obviously not all 14 got an offer.
Yes. We sent out a lot of offers (as do all teams) Crow, Rippey, Kinney, McCoy, Smith Jr, Alozie, Holt, Thompson, Oladotun, Howard, Samuels, Adams, Ariza, Cloer, Stokes, Collins, Muurinen, Cam Williams, Ekezie, Diane, Taylor, Irving.
To be fair, it's no different than Calipari, except we didn't get anyone.
I don't know the details of this, but if any of the rumors from last year are true I wouldn't want anyone here that wouldn't fit or cause drama.
