Yes, when you're this bad, I don't know that any player is worth retaining. How I felt after our basketball season. You have to wonder how they can be this bad. After all, these were players who were recruited to come play D1 college baseball. This is not a team made up of walk ons from the student body.
It looks to me like the team quit this season. I would have no issue with whoever the coach is kicking every player off of the team after the last game and letting the new coach completely start over. The new coach could start with a totally clean slate. Who would want to come in and take over a team that has shown it will quit?
The record tells the storyFirst USC baseball team ever to accrue 30 losses.
Measurably. This is officially the worst baseball team in our history, right?
I think "dynasty" is a bit of a stretch. Historically, gamecock baseball has three or so year runs of excellence every 10 years or so. I think "strong program" is a better description. We did make the tournament in 2024, so it isn't like this is an extended era of misery. It is unexplainable, these guys were surely better than the players that went to play at Queens, Citadel OR Army. I am guessing either Miserable *** scouting, even miserable *** Coaching (Which was an issue) would give you a .500 record.. This is a "Hideous" program right now!! And to think, this program was once on the verge of "Dynasty Status"!!
Disagree, They were the last team to EVER win the National Title in Rosenbatt and the First in Ameritrade, They have been t the Collegeg World series 11 times, So i didnt say IT WAS A DYNASTY, i said it was on the VERGE, Back to back and then back again, lol.latt ad the First to in at the new I think "dynasty" is a bit of a stretch. The disturbing thing is; how can players who were obviously good HS players, otherwise they wouldn't be recruited by and playing for a D1 college team, get so bad? Mainieri was past his prime, but he still had to have knowledge of how to coach a baseball team. He had a very successful career before coming to SC.
Great Point, However, only "his Kids" were tired... Not any of the other "Kids"..Pretty sure I knew the problem was him when we didn't take BP the day after a double header because the kids "were tired".

yes, according to the article on the front page, this is the worst season ever for the Gamecocks.First USC baseball team ever to accrue 30 losses.
If you want to see what a dynasty looks like, look at LSU.Disagree, They were the last team to EVER win the National Title in Rosenbatt and the First in Ameritrade, They have been t the Collegeg World series 11 times, So i didnt say IT WAS A DYNASTY, i said it was on the VERGE, Back to back and then back again, lol.

To be fair, Tanner was one heck of a baseball coach who was the coach during those remarkable years. But it is true, his last baseball coach hire was a total failure and as a result totally destroyed the program. You are correct, this will be a complete rebuild/overhaul.Unfortunately, The CWS series teams of 2010-2012 are ancient history. We’re looking at a complete overhaul and rebuild. Tanner cratered this program like the comet that killed the dinosaurs. Utterly depressing thinking bout what could have been.
The funny thing imo about that time was Tanner appeared to change his philosophy to the game because if I had to guess they had just came out with a new ball followed by new bat at the time we won back to back. Looking back, it appears he adapted better than anyone else. Now if the equipment change never happened, do we win? Truth is I kinda doubt it.To be fair, Tanner was one heck of a baseball coach who was the coach during those remarkable years. Then Go on over to the LSU board, You will be a hero... And you need to actually read my post!! I SAID "on the verge"!! You just want to argue with anyone dont you "pisscuss"??If you want to see what a dynasty looks like, look at LSU.
With no accountability whatsoever. Still making 1 milliion a year.Unfortunately, The CWS series teams of 2010-2012 are ancient history. We’re looking at a complete overhaul and rebuild. South Carolina and LSU have similar baseball histories. LSU's is better, but it's not like we're comparing Alabama football to South Carolina football here.If you want to see what a dynasty looks like, look at LSU.
They have won 2 of the last 3 CWS championships, so they are pretty good right now. 8 CWS championships is pretty stout. USC in the '70s was pretty much the definition of a dynasty, they won 6 championships between 1970 and 1979 after winning 3 in the '60s.South Carolina and LSU have similar baseball histories. NCAA tournament appearances: LSU 37, USC 35
Regional championships: LSU 27; USC 19
CWS appearances: LSU 20, USC 11
CWS runner up: LSU 1, USC 4
CWS championships: LSU 8, USC 2
All-time record (through 2025): LSU 2874-1748-28; USC 2813-1717-17
It's a fact that South Carolina, until the last decade or so, was one of the college baseball's premier programs.
That senior class deserves to go out losers in their last home game. While the whole team stinks, those seniors have been the absolute vanguard of historical ineptitude.
Good riddance.
LeCroy? There's only one senior who's been here his entire college career. The others all transferred in at some point.
no need to be quite so mean spirited, yes the team is terrible, so just leave it at that. That senior class deserves to go out losers in their last home game. While the whole team stinks, those seniors have been the absolute vanguard of historical ineptitude.
Good riddance.
It isnt quite as bad as we had first thought. I was researching NCAA batting averages, South Carolina has a better team batting average than both Dartmouth and Youngstown St........ Coming in at a respectable 298th Place nationally..I still have trouble comprehending how bad we got and how fast it happened.
