Crusher. Roscich tied the match with a birdie on 18 but then lost the first extra hole. Good experience for Nationals obviously but would have been great to play for the ACC title.

2-seed for regionals in both golf genders. Golf is a bright spot this year. Women continue the steady year over year improvement since Coach Neeff took over, and are now legit top 15 team. Men lose a bunch of starters, have some weak results early but now on a strong run. I’m excited for both of the regionals. Women at home, men in Texas.

The regional is underway in Bryan, TX

Here is the preview from the official site:

It is super early but #2 seeded UNC and home team aTm are currently tied at the top, already 6 strokes above the 5 team cut-off

Texas is the #1 seed, #4 in the country. UNC entered this tourney #9 in the nation.

The course appears to be playing easy, so it is a race for birdies and some of the lagging teams will likely catch up if they are behind in number of holes played.

This feels even a bit safer with the teams in 6th and 7th unranked. Anything can happen in college golf, but Chattanooga at -2 and Colorado -1 seem less likely to sustain a run than a ranked team would. It is more likely that they would instead regress to their own mean. The top ranked team below the line is #45 UNLV at +1.

beyond them, the gap seems to wide to for the other teams to contend. The conclusion being that UNC may not need to hold off any contenders on a hot streak days 2 and 3, just avoid their own collapse.

We’re in real trouble. Tied for 3 at -19, but those 2 teams have more holes left. And Colorado is on a heater and only 4 back with all their guys having a par 5 left (granted we played that par 5 in +4)

Roscich shot -1 combined today. 12 birdies, one bogey, one double, one triple, and one +5. Crazy.

We’re in though. Obviously need to try to avoid the blow-up holes because we can make some serious birdies.

I think it is really impressive Roscich was still under par while having a double, triple and a +5 on par 5’s and he also had another double. This team next year I think will back it back to the National championship

Unfortunately the team played 7, 8, 9 in +8, had been going well before that

Pretty good round to keep us in good shape for the cut after round 3 (top 15) and in striking distance of top 8 for match play. Only 7 shots separate 6th (-4) from 15th (+3). We are in the middle at -1 (T9).

Feel like we will need to shoot 5 or 6 under tomorrow to stay close enough to 8th place. Going to need at least one round like that.
