Yikes. Ryan Day didn’t even his offer own son and the highlights that are out there… aren’t good.![]()

Decent mobility, absolutely no arm. His best other offers are Purdue, Cincinnati, and Boston College.

He’s listed as 5’11 on the other site. And he looks smaller. And only listed at 6 ft likely meaning shorter,
Not only should @EvanstonCat chime in about us offering OSU’s head coach’s son…He is a substantially more in-demand QB prospect than our last several: he actually has competing P4 offers, including a P2 offer.
So he is the tallest midget? Or, looking at his offer list, is it us?He is a substantially more in-demand QB prospect than our last several: he actually has competing P4 offers, including a P2 offer
Stauss. There has been no comparable Cats connection since those magical Stauss to 'spoon bombs.Fellow reminds of some of Tony Strauss from decades ago in film

Your take based on tape is your take, and that’s fine. I definitely don’t disagree our recruiting isn’t wheee it needs to be. However our last several QB recruits had ZERO power conference offers, not even the ACC much less Purdue, so Day is in no way a step back or out of line. Not only should @EvanstonCat chime in about us offering OSU’s head coach’s son…
Purdue is not what is once was, and he does not look like a legitimate P4 QB based on the YouTube highlights.
His “world’s tallest midget” analogy seems apt.
Our HS recruiting has been lackluster under Braun.
I played with Tony and he is a good man.Fellow reminds of some of Tony Strauss from decades ago in film
You may not believe this, but I have watched a LOT of tape of a LOT of quarterbacks. Defenses too!Your take based on tape is your take, and that’s fine. for me, these sort of not too expensive three stars is where I think we should live, and while I’d like to see us get more high three star types in the future it’s not where we are. Day fits the mold and we have 2-3 years to wait and hear about his development before it even becomes an issue. Until then, he’s the latest lottery ticket.

We don’t need days of national media attention.St. Francis De Sales is a Division II school in Ohio, so not the top tier. But still, De Sales is an historically strong Div II program and this kid is setting all the passing records there with one more year to go. So, there is a seed there. If nothing else, it gained us a day of national media attention and now we see what he can become.

C’mon Jeff, this is dumb. If any of us bet AGAINST every low 3 star recruit making an impact, we would be right at least 75% of the time. I don’t need to watch any tape for that bet.You may not believe this, but I have watched a LOT of tape of a LOT of quarterbacks. Defenses too!
As one pertinent example: I took one look at Persa’s highlights and saw an underrated, undersized Big Ten quarterback. Until his Achilles injury, he exceeded all expectations.
This kid does not cut the mustard for me. Much like Green’s son or the transfer from Clemson.
Day looks like a very poor man’s Johnny Manziel. He is also not playing against the highest caliber of Ohio football. AT ALL.
Shall we check back in 4 years and see who was right?
Day is only a three star recruit because of who his dad is.C’mon Jeff, this is dumb. If any of us bet AGAINST every low 3 star recruit making an impact, we would be right at least 75% of the time. I don’t need to watch any tape for that bet.
as a walk on, you of all people shouldn’t be burying the kid before he even steps foot on campus. Let the kid enjoy his commitment week. It’s not easy to get a D1 football scholarship.
This kid plays for De Sales. Not too shabby for someone at a school that’s “not the top tier”.
I grew 2 inches my senior year.He is 5'11".
"Some of the best NFL quarterbacks" followed by Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jay Fiedler as supporting examples is doing a lot of work there. Some of the best NFL QBs have come out of the Ivy, Ryan Fitzpatrick leaps to mind (17 years) for me because I am a Jets fan and there is Jay Fieldler and I know there were others but I am too busy to look it up. I wish him the best. I doubt his offers from schools like Purdue and UCF were just a courtesy to a coaching "bro". And the you get the players who attend schools not regarded as "big" programs but who do very well like Navy and Roger Staubach. I know there are more militarists, again, too busy to look it up I am already late for a plane.
Anyway, time will tell. Welcome and GO CATS!
This is entirely false.By not top tier, I simply meant it isn't Division I. I probably should have referred to the school size as I believe that is what the divisions are about in Ohio. DeSales is a Division II school now.
While I am not saying every signee with only one or two offers is a diamond in the rough, Fernando Mendoza had a grand total of one FBS offer coming out of high school.
Shoot I grew 5 inches in one summer back in 1982. I actually got stretch marks on my back from it.I grew 2 inches my senior year.
NU’s HS recruiting has hit such a new low that this post is even being liked by CoralWhile I am not saying every signee with only one or two offers is a diamond in the rough, Fernando Mendoza had a grand total of one FBS offer coming out of high school.
I talked with a buddy who’s a O$U booster and he called this a “coaching prospect recruit”.Maybe he's a Manchurian candidate sent in secret by the OSU coach terrified of powerhouse NU coming for his donuts.
