Down 6-1 after 1 period just getting dominated
What worried me against Princeton has come to roost today as we are leaving the middle wide open and MD is so good they are obviously taking advantage of that
Was out for a while but Coach Lehman changed the defense to man to man after the first quarter and we ended up outscoring them the last 3 quarters( I wish she had gone to that defense to start the game as I stated after the princeton game that defense they played last game and started on this game left shooters wide open in the middle and MD is too good not to take advantage of this) However we had it to 8-7 towards the end of the 3rd quarter but MD scored on 2 free position shots; 2 key moments in the game both at the end of the 2nd and third where we had the ball and could have held till the end and turned it over and MD scored 1 at the end of the second and 2 at the end of the 3rd; Even with the large 1st quarter deficit we still could have come back but great effort by the girls
Going forward the future looks bright: I am not sure who we lose but the goalie is a sophomore and she is GOOD! We also get back Pikell's daughter next year who suffered a season ending injury in preseason and I KNOW for a fact there will be more NIL money for lacrosse and if we can pick up 2 key transfers that can hopefully get us over the hump and we can take that next step as we are not that far off!!

A lot of young talent on the team. Congrats for a very good season.
With the increased NIL(now of course I don't know what exactly that means in terms of #'s) they should be able I would think to hopefully get a couple of key transfers and maybe 1or 2 stud recruits that we had no chance for in the past; I know that Zinn kicked some extra to pick up a stud recruit for field hockey so I am sure the same will be done for both men's and women's lacrosse but you would know better on the mens side

Notable departures will be A Lily Dixon (3rd in B1G with 50 assists) and D (and draw control specialist) Katie Buck (2nd in B1G in DCs).

Dixon was a magician the way she could pass from X and GLE, and Buck was an absolute stud on DCs. We have a lot of good young players on attack and think we can deal with Dixon’s departure — Delaney Sutley has been her apprentice for the last two years — but it’s going to be difficult finding someone as good as Buck on DCs.

I suspect we will look for a GK in the portal. Quilty split time with this year’s portal GK (Koroszewski), who was a disappointment, and the two of them flip flopped all year. Quilty definitely played better in the two NCAA tournament games, but still not sure if she’s the long term answer. She was pretty mid most of the season. We were a really good GK away from winning a couple more games this year.

Anyway, really good season and lots of reasons to think the upward trajectory will continue since we have a lot of really good young players. We just have to hope we don’t lose Caroline Ling (3rd in goals and 4th in points in B1G) or Kate Theofield (10th in goals as a true freshman) in the portal.

I don't know what is going on with wlax but I think Keli has a plan and is executing it. I know if you have a stud or studette that is available and a coach has them on the hook, she's going to find the funds to get it done.

agreed and we can't even look at this season because she had no time for fund raising to affect this season; Next season is when you will see a difference in all the sports that is why almost all the coaches are being given at least 1 more year before I believe she really will get a true evaluation of where every program stands and if the current coaches are the ones long term

Rutgers' Women's olympics sports seem to be in better shape than the men and probably cheaper to elevate. Most Big Ten schools seem to have at least one elite sport, good chance that comes on the women's side first like NW with field hockey and Lax

Lacrosse and field hockey are very good high school sports in NJ. With some funds it should be quite easy to keep a ton of talent home.

If they can match the $ of the top schools like NW and UNC, win a couple of the recruiting battles for top talent, and then capitalize on the field, they could definitely take off

We generally support our women's programs very well. Based on that, it wouldn't shock me. Basketball is the obvious answer. That's Keli's first hire and she's going to make sure they get everything they need.

UNC's men's team, at the "encouragement" of Bill Belichick, got a windfall of scholarships and NIL. Bill is very close with one of their assistant coaches. They've parlayed that support into a recruiting class the sport hasn't seen before. That's on top of the great recruits they already have and are bringing in. It wouldn't shock me if their women's side also got more funds. In fact, I believe their AD made a statement about adding some ridiculous number of schollies across their entire portfolio.

If they don't win multiple championships over the next 7 years their staff should be fired and a case can be made that there is a world where a team can actually have too much talent. There is only one ball and you can only play so many guys. There most certainly is going to be some top recruit 5*s that aren't playing. That's where their culture will come into play.

The problem, though, is that lacrosse and field hockey are mostly suburban sports played by upper middle class and wealthier kids, and those types of kids -- and especially their PARENTS -- are typically the types that look down their noses at Rutgers as a "safe" school and generally prefer to go out of state to more elite (in their minds) schools. I feel like this mindset would offset the scholarships and NIL that Rutgers can manage to scrounge up for these sports. Granted, this is total speculation, but we've all seen the "ABR" mindset among many students and parents in New Jersey, especially those in wealthier towns where these sports are played.

I know in Keli's interview recently that was one of the first things she discussed and it wasn't just NIL but it was exactly as you stated we needed to bring the number of scholarships up which I know she is doing but I am sure that 99% of the fan base doesn't realize this just about scholarship numbers and I will admit I really had no idea about so this is another area on the fund raising side that she also has to deal with

In field hockey the overseas recruits offset that quite a bit.

Byrd Stadium basically empty for quarters DESPITE Twerps playing….sooooo STUPID playing in stadiums as such IMHO.
I don't disagree with the basic premise of your post. But keep in mind that the Terps fans can sit on the "camera side" of the stadium, so you wouldn't see all of the fans like you do when we play games at SHI Stadium and they require the fans to sit on the opposite side from the cameras (and therefore in view).

The 1 time they showed the camera side it was almost as empty as the opposite….which had about 30 people….not good. Now… maybe they just didn’t show the one section that had a couple hundred fans, but nonetheless, it’s just stupid in my opinion.

They are building a lacrosse stadium.
