In a move that shows the change in climate of CBB, a move like this would have been considered a big deal as recently as 3 to 5 years ago.

However in a new age of fan awareness or fans moving onto finding a better player or just seeing a change in the rivalry, a player going from RU to SHU, isnt necessarily on the radar of things to be concerned about.

RU has to find better players in a rugged B1G terrain and Nwuli may ultimately be a better fit, where SHU plays a more frenetic, pressing style of basketball, that hopes it doesnt need to rely on spot up jump shooting and offensive creation.

Good Luck to Nwuli and do I think he sticks around for 2 or 3 years?? The pattern has been a move every year of his HS career (4 High School programs in 4 years).....he is now on 2 college programs in 2 years.

Hard working kid that if he dials in and can avoid fouls, should help any program. I would venture to say this may be a small item on the fans radar, kinda like Lathan Sommerville going from RU to Washington and returning to the RAC a couple of months ago. Sommerville actually played a bigger role and started some games at RU.....not quite sure this one with Nwuli, will make waves in the long run, but figured it was worth a post as the portal season continues on.

He is definitely very athletic with a ton of potential. Would have been a good player to keep as a backup. Will need to make a big jump if he is to play meaningful minutes at Seton Hall. Made some great plays at Rutgers showing his potential alongside quite a number of boneheaded plays. Also didn’t rebound up to his potential.

Prior to the age of NIL such a transfer would have been a big deal. Now it’s really not.

I suspect Nwuli will do well going from playing for maybe the worst coach in the Big 10 to playing for the Big East coach of the year, and it will have absolutely nothing to do with his inability to handle "the rugged Big 10." My guess is he goes from non factor to major contributor really fast. We shall see.

No doubt I would have liked to keep Nwuli. He is a great energy guy off the bench. He is a rotational guy at best as a sophomore for an above average team.

Nwuli didn't live up to his potential at RU his freshman season, but that is the case of a lot of college playewrs their first year moving up from HS to college ball.
As for Pike's coaching holding him back and he'll blossom under Holloway's tutelage,I can't say.
Ge might have learned what college ball is all about his freshman yer and use it to improve as a player in his soph season. Or earn a place on the bench because he's not showing he's worthy of playing time.
Many times talented HS players don't show the same type of game when they play college ball,

I don't wish Nwuli success at Seton Hall as a basketball player, but wish him every success in the world as a student there.

It’s cool to like Sha. That said, he did manage to go an entire season without beating a single team better than SHU. That’s hard to do. It shows how little respect anyone has for SHU anymore.

We will see if Seton Hall is an above average team. They had 11 players transfer out. Will be interesting to see what they put together.

Not really. If we got the big guy from you guys I could see it but CN was our 10th guy. Not slighting him — he’s a good fit with Sha’s style — but he won’t move the needle on our end.

Only 1 problem - he never played in a game for SH & returned to RU to finish his career. Played a total of 52 games all for RU (‘78-‘80 & ‘81-‘82). McDaniels is historic since most people didn’t even know it happened. 😂

Nwuli will be historic if and when he plays vs RU. That should provide some interesting threads on both sites.

Your earlier quote defined historic as a player transferring to the other school. McDaniel did that. You had to sit out a year back then so that’s would be why he didn’t play in a game for Seton Hall. Otherwise he was on the team .

I mean, if he’s one of your top dogs at that point sure, it’ll be a story. On our end the focus will be more about how Pike sucks at developing players because that’s how our fan base tends to roll. it would be that way though if he transferred anywhere that happened to be on our schedule.

If he’s a little bit better than he was this year it will be a non-starter story though. He only played about 10 mpg at RU and averaged like 2 points.

I think this is what Shaheen Holloway is hanging his hopes on, and there seems to be some justification for it. From what I know, Nwuli also seems more fit to be an offensive weapon in transition than he was in Rutgers' half-court sets.

I figure he's far from a sure thing, but certainly seems like a gamble worth taking for The Hall. The stylistic fit is strong, so we'll se how it translates in reality.

I think it's meant in the sense that there has not been a Rutgers-->Seton Hall transfer or vice versa before in basketball. Is that correct? I can't recall any, but I'm not sure if it's totally unprecedented. I can really only speak for the last 30-35 years, but I can't recall any.

Nwuli might make the bext RU-Shu game a little more exciting, if he;s a starter and isn't just put in to give someone a rest.
He supposadly has the talent to be a starter, lets see if SHU's HC can bring out the talent he shown in HS .
If Sha can do that.
If he does there will be never ending messages about the "great " one Rutgers needed playing for the Hall.
If not, Nwuli will be just another HS talent that didn't make a splash his freshman and sophomore season and might be looking for a home before junior season gets under way .

If Nwuli is a starter at Seton Hall, that early in the season, Nwuli will need to be a completely different player than he was at Rutgers or Seton Hall will have to be hurting for big athletic players.

Nwuli has skills, but he didn’t finish well around the basket, he fouled a lot, and he didn’t rebound well. He could make a jump because he is talented, but at Rutgers he did inexplicable things that made him less valuable than he could have been.

Not for nothing but there is no P4 in basketball and the Big East is consider a high major conference like the B1G, ACC, etc. The guy probably plays 12-15 minutes a game for them as a rotation piece.

Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, and ACC
The conference which controls the bids! The conferences who are getting the field expanded.

Agree on rotation but will be interesting. Sha style is more a fit for him. Wish him well

It's high major, mid major and low major. There never has been a reference to P4 in basketball other than by football fans that don't understand the difference.

Ok we just need to come forward about a decade! It was the power 5 until realignment. It became the power 4.

Basketball started its Power 4 talk with the PAC 12 being stripped clean. The terms used to identify the schools controlling money and influence.

Also please update SI, ESPN,CBS sports, Yahoo Sports, The Atheltic to start. I’m sure they want to know as well!

People don't like to hear it, but Dylan actually did take steps forward this year. Increased his 3pt% by 7 points, his free throw shooting by like 15. Almost tripled his asst %. Most everything else stayed pretty similar. It's not like he went backwards. He wasn't good year one either.

Yes and no. He didn’t play in any of the games against the cupcakes in 2024-25. His BIG only stats in 2025-26 are inferior to his prior year. The glaring one is the drop in rpg despite more minutes.

I said that right now he isn’t starter level.

Not starting vs not playing are VERY different things. But you know that. when you need to resort to putting words in people mouths you’ve proven you have no point

the kid apparently has potential and was highly rated out of HS so there is zero surprise that he got picked up by a big east school (high level basketball)

he might very well make a good contribution there . And down the road, as he develops, based on his supposed talent he might up being a very solid player

but right now - he’s not a starter in the big 10 or a big east team that has tourney aspirations

And I know you THINK you made some kind of “gotcha” moment - but it’s actually the opposite- the fact that a big east team would want him as a very likely back up right now only bolsters the point we were making about the value of big men. nice try. But another L

I really think you need to take a breather .

I love how you look at his stats and say he took a step forward. People who rely solely on stats fail to use their eyeballs. There was nothing good about Grant this past year. Once conference play started, he was terrible at everything.
