Looks to me like the following with interchangeable pieces 1-3.

PG: Jones, Parker
2G: Wilcher, Anderson, Moore
SF: Brown, Thomas
PF: Nwuli, Mariano
C: Williams
Agreed only I see Mariano starting at the 4 and unless Nwuli made a huge offseason jump I don’t think it’s even close.

For the more knowledgeable posters (@SPK145 @Fishjam et al), am I wrong on this?

I think Williams can provide or improve upon what Payne did. Still missing the Hines impact, but we won’t be replacing that; have to make it up in other areas.

We got so little from Fisher/Rivera/Dar at the 4 that the bar is low for Nwuli/Mariano, but they’ve done nothing.

Still too thin in the frontcourt, obv.

Obviously, SHU can and probably will add a few more players (hopefully some that are impactful) to this roster, but if you take these 10 players how do they compare to our 10 players from last year? While we had 15 guys on roster last season, we got little or nothing from 5 (Gabriel, Mbaye, Felton, Godswill, Suemnick) either due to injury or lack of playing time.

I know we forgot about him, but is Suemnick still available? He should have one year of eligibility left. Just don’t know the terms that he left on.

It’s very much a Shaheen Holloway team. No stars. 2-3 players of depth at every position. A mix of guys with experience and nice numbers (albeit at lower levels) and guys with potential who haven’t produced yet.

The goal, I’m sure, is a 10-12 man rotation with highly competitive practices and a season-long audition for minutes. I don’t love the plan, but I’m glad there’s a plan. And it kind of worked last year.

With a long roster, two or three guys will get hurt or play so poorly they won’t make the 10 man rotation which is what happened last year.

Think he would need a waiver? He’s been in college forever.

They both stink but Holloway doesn’t start the better players. Just look at Hines & Simpkins last yr
I know you will get blasted for this from some on this forum but there is truth in your comments. That being said it is way more important to look at who is in at the end of games and not necessarily who starts. Unfortunately, Payne was in at the end of some games when Hines should have been in. Hines may have left not only because of money but how he was NOT used.

I agree with you with Mariano starting over Nwuli at this point but it's not "I don’t think it’s even close."

Get a good center and neither starts at the 4.

This is BS. Could Holloway have played Hines a bit more? Maybe in a few games. There is one and only one reason Hines left—- $$$ and that money was coming from one of the top five programs in the country. Until you accept that you’ll always be looking for reasons for why things happen while ignoring the most obvious one.

I would suggest if he was really happy with his playing time and with Sha he might not have been so quick to leave. You would have heard him say so and that money was a factor. Did you ever hear him say such a thing? That only left because of the money and he loved playing for Sha?

I think you could have used better words than to say they stink..... They may need a season at SHU before we can say things so negative. They may blossom and play up to their potential under Sha. We had a bunch of mostly no names suspect players that produced a 20 plus win season.

Yes, yes, yes. As I mentioned in 1 other thread, I spoke to someone in Hines' inner circle and he said Najai was totally fine with his playing time. 100% the $$

Williams moves to the starting 4 slot, where he really wants to play.
That would make sense since he is severely underweight for a BE C. But how could we afford another C? Actually we'd need 2 then...

Any idea what range of NIL Williams, Mariano, and Nwuli are getting? Assuming we only had around 3Mil left before getting Williams and Nwuli, not sure if that math is mathing.

Stupid question here. Whats the point of defending and blocking shots if it takes us 3-4 times.down the court to make a shot?
Offense and specifically outside shot making and ball movement to create open looks has been our main issue for several seasons now at least.

Hoping the guys Sha brought in for this upcoming season can be more offensively skilled and spread the floor better than previous years.

Thomas and Brown should both be snipers from the 3 spot. All of our guards can make threes (efficiency TBD), and hoping a few of our bigs can hit an occasional outside shot as well.

Unlike past seasons where we had multiple positions that were awful 3-pt shooters and even afraid to take them, this season I don't expect that to be the case. If that holds up, we could end up being a lot more dangerous offensively than last year.

Does anyone know what we can expect from Moore? We have heard about him for years. From some of the televised games he looks like a rotation combo guard to me. Does anyone have anymore info.

Keep telling yourself 2 & 1 at Rutgers is good or better yet 2 & 2 in the G league is better
You might have said the same thing about Sandro (2.6 PPG and 1.9 RPG in 9.6 MPG) or Jared Rhoden (3.4/2.6/13.1) if they were incoming transfers after their freshmen years.

Or Zuby Ejiofor (1.2/1.7/5.2 and 4.3/3.1/11.3) after either of his first two seasons. Or Solo Ball (3.3/1.0/11.5).

I know little about Chris Nwuli other than he'll be a sophomore next year. I'm not about to limit him to the numbers he put up last year. nor am I expecting a leap to all-Big East status.

The idea that young men are fully formed in any aspect at 20 years old is laughable but you seem to live by that notion.

Undersized 2g with some combo abilities that isn't much of a 3 point threat is what I gather

He has a limited budget. You’ll have to make trade-offs. Defense keeps you in the game and that’s what he’s focused on with managing the budget.
And when you coach at St. Peter’s then Seton Hall in the P4P Era, this becomes a standard of living.
