Their starter threw 102 pitches through 5.1 innings and State only mustered 2 runs on 6 hits.

They just didn’t understand the assignment. It was just too big of a task for our Seniors and Grad Students.
You think we can sweep? I mean I don’t agree that we suck but we have shown no reason to think we can sweep a top ten team. What’s wrong with just realizing we have crumbled this weekend at home, got embarrassed once again, and squandered a great opportunity to get a top 8 seed. It’s clear the pitching is a disaster and we can’t handle good teams. That’s just factual. I don’t get why we can’t just acknowledge it.
Easy when you don’t have good pitching and pitchers that can hold a runner on and you don’t have a catcher that can throw out runners with consistency.
Opposing teams don’t fear running the bases.
We don’t have the pitching to be trouble unfortunately, not this year.
I think O’Connor knows our deficiencies and will go get us help in the portal and in HS recruiting for next year.
Our hitting can be a head scratcher at times but we’ve all seen what it can do.
We saw it first hand Thursday night.
Auburn is an elite team and we’re not right now.

I would bet he could have done better given the facilities and money pumped into the baseball program here at State vs at Auburn.

We threw 6 pitchers in a 7 inning game. Auburn threw 2. Our depth is leaving a lot to be desired against elite teams, but that's why they're elite. At this point in the season we are who we are. Yeah it would be nice if McPherson could eventually give us 7 innings again but that's not going to push this club into Omaha. We're just going to have to start playing better baseball all the way around. It's one thing to get hot at the plate, but it's another thing to pitch over our heads and suddenly gain the ability to throw out base stealers all at once.
Long shot obviously but it’s a point. Bigger question, do we have to be a National Seed? Get HOT and just wreck the damn thing.
Over Lemonis? Absolutely! Butch would have won 1 or more. Over O’Connor? Only if we could have gotten him for half what we paid BOC.
