A quick write up on today's men's wrestling commit - Ray Griffin - who hails from North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho (pop. ~58,000):

Iowa adds two-time JUCO All-American heavyweight Ray Griffin - On3

He makes four heavyweights on the projected 2026-27 roster - along with Ben Kueter, Michael Mocco and Easton Fleshman - and puts the projected roster number at 32/30 available spots.

Not looking good for him and Anthony. Anthony may be able to go back to Campbell, but we know Nebraska is not an option for AJ. Back to Bakersfield?
I guess when you are a returning and the team says you are no longer on the team and then you go to a school and place 6th and they release you, most coaches can see the pattern.

It would be a sad story but the guy has done things that most of us never dream of doing (I am referring to the world medals and such - not the extracurriculars). Now it is just entertainment.

Amazingly enough, I am looking forward to another year of it.

I know that AJ says that he has two years of eligibility left, but has anyone legit said that?

I can’t say I think it’s sad. Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.

Why wasn’t Nebby interested in keeping AJ. I didn’t think he got in any trouble while he was there?

He was charged with a felony for evading arrest in October. Might still be pending resolution and trial.

His other crime is that he’s AJ.

While not a crime, it was clear that his post match antics annoyed the hell out of his coaches and teammates.
This. He’s a distraction and never figured out if he just stepped back from the attitude that he’s the prize he might have been a hawk and benefitted from more NIL in the long run.

You think the issue is his “attitude”?
