Tough week for Braves fans with Ted Turner passing away earlier this week. It was Turner that brought back Cox as the GM for the Braves before he coached in ‘90.

As a kid growing up watching the Braves, it felt like Bobby Cox would always be the manager for the Braves. It still feels a little weird for me watching them knowing he’s not in the dugout.

I think he still is, he had a lasting affect on Walt Weiss and Eddie Perez, and the entire organization for that matter.

The timing of the deaths of both Cox and Turner is another sign of the strong relationship which formed an impressive organization in Atlanta.

Bobby Cox and Ted Turner Relationship

''The connection between Bobby Cox and Ted Turner shaped the modern Atlanta Braves dynasty. Turner purchased the Braves in 1976 and transformed the franchise into a national brand through TBS broadcasts.

Cox first managed the Braves from 1978 to 1981 before later returning to the organization as general manager and eventually manager again in 1990. Under Cox and Turner’s leadership, Atlanta became one of baseball’s dominant franchises throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.

Fans on Reddit reflected on the emotional timing of both Turner and Cox passing away within the same week, calling them “the original Batman and Robin” of Braves baseball.''
