I'm not sure that really proves anything. #24 was Jamal Mashburn's number, one of the GOATs in Kentucky history. I bet there are a ton of user names with that number in them.
I recently retired and decided to join this board a few weeks ago to discuss Kentucky basketball with some fans. I've hardly gotten on here at all because it seems like people are rarely posting about basketball. This place just seems like a **** show.
When someone sees their bad behavior? Your behavior and whoever it is that keeps making usernames are the problem. You need to grow up and act your age.
I agree. I think we should be able to vote him off the island. Defended him against my better judgment.

Super smart guy, very articulate. Was doubtful about Pope but all in on supporting the team. If you are him, your secret is safe with me. Shoot me a PM if you’re Preston. Post-Edit: Just to be clear, I was not insinuating Morg isn’t a super intelligent guy. He absolutely is, but Morg is more analytical and long-winded (like me.) I still believe I know Richie in real life (he denies it) — if I’m right about Richie, he’s insanely intelligent also.

This place has gotten zero percent worse. When I first heard about it in 2003 it was because I had found some other Kentucky BB fan forums and kept hearing about this ridiculous crazy place they all kept calling “Raftards.” So I got curious and went looking.

The quality goes up and down as top quality posters come into their own on one hand and retire or escape to the pay board on the other hand. And the mood varies with on-court success. But all the same Rafters is just Rafters and always has been. Not for the faint of heart.

The lack of football board makes it immensely worse. The trolls flooding the board make it worse.

Don’t out him for sure. I like Preston quite a bit and I’m glad he’s still posting here. If you talk to him sometime tell him there are folks who noticed he wasn’t around. Super awesome guy.
Ultimately it's up to posters to make this an enjoyable place. Before, mods had to moderate three separate boards and some posts got through that should've gotten folks banned for life (threatening/racist type posts). Now, if a thread gets too out of hand, it gets zapped and posts are quickly deleted. Anon accounts are not going to be banned because "Pick a handle or else!" isn't a rule. That was made up by a few posters and it's goofy. Know what else is goofy?

Only in your perception. We always had free accounts and we always had about the same number of trolls—higher in the bad times because that creates opportunity. Now you just see the Anon tag and feel tipped off to a troll. In reality before the move to ON3 it was actually easier for a troll to get set up because you didn’t need an email address to make an account. Now trolls at least need a burner email for each account. Whether you’re searching for FB threads or avoiding them, the lack of a football board means you have to look at thread titles to decide whether you’re interested. But we’ve always had to do that. And in fact for everyone interested in both sports the lack of a separate board makes things easier. People prefer not having to switch boards to switch subjects. Same reason the old recruiting board was such a permanent fail. Did you actually use that recruiting board?
Obviously in my perception, what else do I have to go by? But as someone whose been here 20 years I can say quite certainly that a lack of dedicated football board is a bad move. Anyone who frequently visited the lair can tell you that. That is the few that are left here. Rafters and the Lair had their distinct personality. Now it's just one board with bickering and trolling no matter what the topic is. Kentucky football gets a big commitment, within the first couple of posts it'll be a thread talking about Mark Popes inability to land recruits. Now typically I just read the first post and move on without engaging in the topic because I know what it'll turn into.
You do have a point that the football board being mixed in with basketball pulls trolls into football threads who never would have been there otherwise. In football unfortunately we don't have the status that would make opposing fanbases want to come after us, but the current situation artificially pulls football threads into those crosshairs. Good point.
It's not about the amount of trolls. It's about the numerous accounts each troll has.
