Pitching coach with some horrible 2 strike calls. Not entirely on the pitchers. Throwing what they told to. Then Owen Jenkins although will be great got lazy behind the plate several times late costing big outs and past balls. Also should’ve left Sams in. His stuff was electric.

I live in Lexington. I can live in Gainesville, Florida if I choose. But family, community and job are in Lexington. NGL, Florida is nice in the winter.

Meltdown is a bit of an exaggeration. It is disappointing. All teams have injuries but this team has had a lot. They have also had a preseason starter have a subpar season (Cleaver) and another weekend starter out for a bit with a sore shoulder. The bullpen has been the biggest disappointment to me. The every day players have been good. There are things to be optimistic about for the future. Several freshmen have been playing and playing well for freshmen. Really, the injuries have caused the underperforming season. You had Bell out for quite a while. The starting catcher is out for the season very early on and two other catchers were out for many games. A very good 1st basemen is out for 3 weeks with mono, still doesn't seem back yet. You're not going to win many games with your right fielder catching several SEC games.

One pitcher had a bad outing (Hunter) and a freshman catcher that we had to use because two upper classmen catchers were injured let a called 3rd strike pitch get away. The bullpen has been a disappointment but the field players have done pretty well even some of the freshmen. Against SEC competition, you can give up a lot of runs with mistakes. I am willing to bet this team does OK postseason. I doubt they'll get to a super regional but they'll do OK for a team that depends too much on underclassmen. I'd say they did pretty good with the portal but it definitely isn't a sure thing. Jayce Tharnish and Luke Lawrence worked out from the portal. Carson Hansen not so much.
