First, I'm not angry, I am amused by the collective nervous breakdown. I am taking great joy in reminding the angry mob that they are fueled completely by speculation. Second, missing on this player,.then getting another doesn't automatically mean failure. We'll all find out together.
I haven't defended anything. You consider my replies angry and mean when I simply state facts that don't line up with the hive mind. I'm not angry, I'm quite relaxed actually.

If Pope had a GM that had relationships with agents then he probably wouldnt get to waste time and money flying to Israel.

I'm disappointed by Pope's answer. Not because UK/Pope (is it his decision then?) hasn't hired someone with the title of GM. I'm disappointed because none of the duties he described of the guys hired currently has the job of, and is considered good at, dealing with, working, and negotiating with agents. That's the missing ingredient, and I think it's crucial for success. In my opinion, no coach should be trying to do that task while also trying to woo players. If Pope is trying to do this - with or without other staff members not expert at this - then I think he's sabotaging the roster building.

I’ve put way to much thought into our recruiting issues. I guess because I believe that if that issue was resolved we would be great again. Maybe i misunderstand you on here, which is easy for any of us to do. Regardless that post was more about me wanting to see change than anything you’ve said.Imagine thinking GMs recruit players. How on Earth did Kansas get Tyran Stokes without a GM? It’s almost like the coaches recruit the players. Oh well, dear leader said we need one and that’s all that matters and fix recruiting.
People hung up on titles need to come to terms with the reality.
Regardless of title Keegan Brown and Nick Robinson are not the best people for their jobs (which they may have multiple because it seems like they are already working outside of their roles). We should have the best of the best but instead we have these BYU retreads that got the job simply by being in Popes' roledex. Look at their resumes and tell me they've earned their positions at the University of Kentucky.

All coaches take staff with them when they change schools. People work together, get use to each other, become friends.

Will Stein is reeling in the 4* kids left & right. Pope sucks at recruiting top players is the problem, looks like he's just gonna have to settle for players that fit his system.
For sure but it doesn't change the fact that Brown and Robinson don't have the qualifications for this level of basketball. Once he got here the game literally changed and he stayed the same with his mediocre crew he brought with him.
Keegan Browns call to fame is his time at BYU and as video coordinator for a G League team. Have you watched the G League? Does it look like they are doing heavy intricate video work? He is not qualified.
Nick Robinsons call to fame is a run in the Big Sky, BYU and absolutely dogs**t LSU teams from '09-12. He is not qualified.

a high level & players we need to win a championship or even be competitive

Didn't sign a one & got played by 1 for over a month.

As much as you and I want Pope to suceed, the statistics are against him.
