Even if this is only partially true, or only hits a certain percentage of projections, how are any of the rest of us supposed to keep up with that? I know this thread is aimed at our BOR for not having the foresight for something like this, which isn't necessarily wrong. But the bigger picture is the fact that not every school, regardless of BOR, is going to be able to hit on a $2B investment. If it were that easy, we'd all be doing it. So, where's that leave everyone else. This thing either gets a salary cap or it's dead. It's already close without this. Hopefully this will force the issue.

our endowment is probably primarily invested in soybean futures or gov't bonds/T-bills

Better just get used to this while we offer free Runza for a semester 🙁
As a program we are akin to someone going out for a “big night on the town” and hitting up Outback/Applebees type places before catching the after 9 movie

Pretty sure every D1 program will be reacting to this in a similar way we are. If they put the $500 million in additional investments and simply us 10% a year to boost their NIL, it'll last a long long time and only schools with billionaire backers will be able to compete.

At this point it really does seem to come down to a school having a Billionaire(s) that wants to see their school's athletic program succeed, or be on the sidelines.

$500M to NIL as a result of this

meanwhile Rhule is begging posters on Inside Nebraska for spare change

This sort of stuff is so bad for college football. It is so far away from the game of football and therefore the game just gets worse because winning comes down to just paychecks to ready made players rather than convincing great players to come to your school, developing them with roids and workout regimes, and plugging them into well-designed systems. None of that matters now.

How is this possible (25% to NIL)? I thought the house settlement capped spending by the institutions and 3rd party NIL deals had to pass FMV rules vs the sham payments that have been going on? I think (gasp) this guy's source might be his *******.

Pretty aggressive investment for a public institution. I don’t believe most states would allow that kind of speculative investment from a state university. The rich get richer.
You should read up on the OPS retirement fund. Lost almost a billion dollars in crap investments. Criminally inept

Hmm…I wonder who UNL could invest major $$$ with just down the road and have a constant ROI for NIL…
