Off topic here but I saw Naas Cunningham signed with Jacksonville State after an almost invisible year at UNLV. Anyone know what happened to this guy? I remember when he was one of the top freshman/sophomores in hs. Had size and skill. Did he just not progress?

I wish Denis success at Towson. I know now that Grant will be at Charlotte, Dorch to Notre Dame and Badalou to Towson. Thus Zrno, Nwuli, Ogbole, Jones and Fall have not yet landed with another team. I saw Zrno had some interest from Vanderbilt, Louisville and Kentucky and a few others but nothing has happened yet. Somehow I think a few of these guys might not get picked up by anyone. If they don't get picked up it might be a poor decision by them. The one guy I wouldn't mind coming back would be Nwuli. He was very good on defense and he was the loudest guy always at practice always hollering on defense to his other team members. He always seemed to be so into everything and was always so friendly to me anytime I was at practice. I think he has some real upsize. Dorian Jones I still cannot understand left after sitting out as a redshirt. I still wonder if he got a slice of the money for our playing in Las Vegas. It just doesn't seem right to me that he decided to leave without ever playing in a game.
Looks like Dorian Jones committed to Kent.

i am legitimately curious what makes you say this

… and please offer something more than just the usual “pike sucks”

legitimately curious …
I am somewhat confused by this as well. Nwuli just seems like a pretty basic player, he can be an average or somewhat above average college hoops player, everyone gets better as they get older typically in college hoops, but sounds like some are expecting big things from Nwuli? Not seeing it.

as far as I know - he lived up to his scouting report - very raw with athleticism and little to no offensive game.

That was what we heard going in and that’s exactly what he was

not really sure what people were expecting his first year

Considering that he’s raw and athletic it’s logical to believe he will improve no matter where he goes .

Nwuli will do best in a system that creates offense from defense. SHU I think could provide that more than us based on current roster construction. We are currently still a below average defense that lost its best all purpose defensive player in Bryce Dortch. Sydnor might be an upgrade on D over Grant. And frosh like Powers have nowhere to go but up. But overall you look at our roster and you feel ok about the offense and concerned about the D.
