CINCINNATI —
WKRP is back on the airwaves in Cincinnati after nearly five decades.
The Oasis has transformed into WKRP, bringing back hits from the 60s, 70s and early 80s.
The coverage area covers 150 miles Cincinnati, northern Kentucky and all the way up to Dayton area with its three channel frequencies: 94.5, 97.7 and 106.7.
"While we brought back the best music, why not bring back the most legendary radio station the tri-state has ever known? WKRP is HERE!" the station said on its website.
WLWT and The Associated Press previously reported WKRP's return to Cincinnati.
The call sign was made famous by “WKRP in Cincinnati,” a CBS television sitcom that ran from 1978 to 1982. It made stars of actors like Loni Anderson and Richard Sanders, whose bumbling newsman Les Nessman reported on a Thanksgiving promotion gone bad when live but flightless turkeys were dropped from a helicopter.
