I hate this. I have no interest seeing underachieving mediocre teams that couldn’t even finish in the top half of their conference playing in the tournament to determine the national champion. There were already too damn many of those getting in. Now we get even more.

The NCAA seems bound and determined to make the regular season irrelevant.

Can't wait to see the Southwestern North Dakota A&M Wild Running Jack Rabbits and Miami-Dade Junior College sweating it out on the bubble. 🙄

I'll need to pay attention I might have a game I'm supposed to play in and not even know it.

Seriously why on Earth are they adding even MORE teams.
It won’t be the little mid majors that benefit from this. Instead this is the result of lobbying by the power conferences to get even more of their members in.

What it means is we’ll now be seeing teams with like 15 or 16 losses that finished near the bottom of their conference getting in. Which I hate. A tourney bid should be something you have to earn with a damn good season. Now all the P5 schools have to do is not completely suck.

This is true. Actually worse. "Never missed the tournament" streaks are about to be insane.

I don’t like the numbers. 64 for basketball and 16 for football, square numbers that don’t have play-in games.
Money grabbing changes and an inept governing agency is going to kill off college sports. Kentucky should get ahead of the rush instead of trying to catch up later. It’s time to sell the front of the jersey, too. We would have plenty of NIL cash as the Kentucky Fried Chicken Wildcats.

The KY Thoroughbred's or The KY Bourbon Bombers. Plenty of money in those business ventures.

If we suck this year, as most expect and we slide into the tournament with one of these extra spots, he better not get a damn extension or anything and get his walking papers in the locker room at the end of the final game.

As part of this, now every 16 seed will have to win an opening round game to advance to the main bracket and one of the 15 seeds will have to do so as well.

16 for Football is absolutely pathetic. Nearly the entire top 20. The "participation" society we now live in is just sad.

Football will be 24. Guaranteed.
Yeah and it looks like conference tourneys are out the door which stinks. Just means more BIG 10 and SEC (mid-conference) teams AND that Notre Dame is pracrically guaranteed to be in the playoffs ever year barring a horrid season. Also Notre Dame will never join a major conference now, there's literally no need to.

As a side bar (and rant): this is why the NFL is just the perfect sport. Everything about it just works. Salary cap is in a perfect spot (unlike MLB/Cbball), the regular season has meaning (unlike NBA/NHL/MLB), it's team-driven not player-driven. You dont have to keep f*cking with the rules to get things right. Every team has a chance to have a competitive run and almost all of them have had one in the last decade. Almost no tanking.

These other sports seem to be racing to their extinction. I feel like in 10 years im not gonna be watching any of this except the NFL. My team sucks and its still gonna be more interesting than when college basketball has 128 teams in the field, watching the 1-seed obliterate a 27-seed.. or watching the Dodgers roll out the first trillion dollar roster.

It’s just getting to the point where there is no point. Show up and pretend it matters, pay, and done. Money mindset is absolutely going to destroy and devour everything if people don’t get some kind of grip and realize there are more important things. But this began with the boomers and it’s slowly becoming the norm. Very little can be done until the destruction eliminates everyone’s way of life which is coming.

Same thing when Baseball had their expansion. Still the same amount of major-leaguers but now filled with minor-leaguers too. Not worth watching.

I watch college football knowing that each week somebody good is probably getting eliminated from the playoff. It's part of the excitement. Not any more. I'll have a hard time watching anything but UK games.

I love the NFL. Our son and daughter (who are in their 40's) are huge NFL fans. The only thing I don't like about the NFL is that I can basically only watch 5 LIVE games a week, unless there's an early Sunday game in Europe.

Yeah I guess it has some flaws. I also forgot they the NFL like any sports league also tries to find ways to add games to the regular season. But thankfully even if they go to an 18 game season, it wont change much.. and theres a chance we might finally get the superbowl on the sunday before Presidents day, which is worth it IMO
