That's great news and surprising, considering the extent of the injury. Achilles usually take an entire year to heal or more.
He’s a really good TE but he’s looking from the outside in… not saying he can’t be a great TE but I think we have our main man with DJ
It’s a really tough injury to come back from. Lachey was never the same after the same injury.

If he ends up at 100% it will be interesting as he showed signs of being a "good one" before the injury. TE has the potential to be stacked again!
Wasn't achilles what Luke Lachey had also? He just didn't seem to get back to same level pre-injury.
He also played on some awful passing teams so it's hard to gauge injury vs offense.
Plus some nice depth at the position and Lester knows how to use them well.

Luke was a 7th round pick in the 2025 draft (#255 overall).
He earned $339,213 last season with the Texans.
He is schedled to earn $885,000 this upcoming season.
He did. He was under utilized when he returned IMO, but not like Hawks were a passing juggernaut either. He's still getting paid in the NFL so he's not bad.
Ostrenga will be a nice addition, but he's been surpassed by DJ Vonnahme. Hawks play plenty of two tight end sets, and injuries happen so the more the merrier. Hope they both shine in their own way.
You don't think he's going to get an opportunity to play? I doubt that KFz would simply write him off
No- I do think he will play but it’s hard to come back from a serious injury like a Achilles tendon injury aa when I wrestled I had one and really never the same after that - I hope the best for him!
I think he will play, and we will be glad he is on the field when he does play. With DJ and Ortwerth Iowa looks good. And don't sleep on the younger guys, Meyer, Woods, Burt, etc.
