What if Omaha Turns on Trae?

Was just back in NE enjoying some spring high school sports and basically 100% of bleacher conversation was lamenting Millard South’s ruining of high school football in the metro

People hate that Trae and whoever else are coming in to play for an all star team

I wonder if that din will grow as the season goes along and non-MS fans will actively be rooting against/hating our 2nd promised prince before he even gets to Lincoln

I suppose if you had a kid that was going to be the potential starter at Qb a year ago I could see some animosity with some parents.

MS been recruiting players for sometime now so it’s not unusual.
I graduated from Millard by the way.

I think Trae defense of the program and peer recruiting will show for itself and endear him to the fan base.

Now - if he’s a total D-bag on the field vs lesser competition I could see that being a big problem with fans.

Trae aside, it’s sad in my opinion what this has become.

It is spectacularly unusual for kids to come from IL and TX specifically to play football for MS

It’s not even close to the same as some papio kids switching schools, for instance

Lots of Omaha kids who’d normally be out there this fall for their schools are choosing to not participate in football due to the perception this has created

Since he's committed to the good guys, most people will do what we always do, rationalize it away because we benefit from it. If he waffles on his commitment during the season, yeah, it will be open season on him and MS.

Parents with kids playing at other Omaha schools will dislike this situation no matter what he does, and we aren't winning them over.

I still question if he ever takes a snap here.... currently, I'm sitting at 51/49 in the chances department, and I'm in the 49 camp

Until the Nebraska high school governing boards do something about transfer rules, we have little to complain about. At the very least it would be a better look if his parents actually lived in the district.

Probably wouldn’t even hear about this if the program was in better shape. Trae could be an amazing QB but one player cannot turn around an entire program.
In order to be great under Matt Rhule, her have to be better than a SB winning QB, a Heisman winner, and many others.

Rhule is cancer to QB success.

So, this is really a thing? Seriously, f*ck that sh*t.

If Millard needs to be our minor league feeder system, great! Apparently we need all the help we can get.

is trae actually any good? that's the first question i have
We won't know because they will steamroll everybody...this sort of stuff will kill college football, and quickly. We are already seeing HS players not being recruited, and partially because they are moving around to play on super teams and are never challenged, don't need to learn tech, or fight through losing or adversity. The sport is just going to be like 30 year old dudes playing under court injunction with hardly any decent guys coming in as freshman and none of them even staying in workout programs long enough to develop. It will probably start looking like it is already looking, offenses are getting worse, defenses are getting the upper hand, qbs can't do anything but scramble and complete bubble screens and single option routes. Offenses are simplified, and unified with no diversity. Guys like DR would have sat for a few years, got his body in shape, developed some tech, footwork, arm strength...he still plays like a HS player as Junior and could start at a lot of places.

Example 1: Super Bowl Champion Sam Darnold. Has played on 5 NFL teams. His worst QB rating in the NFL was under… Matt Ruhle
And who was his QB coach/OC? Joe Brady. Kind of interesting that Josh Allen struggled this past year as well….. Darnold landed with a couple of the best OCs he could ever hope to play for when he went to MN and Seattle.

last year Josh Allen posted the best comp% and yards/attempt numbers of his career with literally nobody playing WR

this post is almost impossibly wrong & certainly a desperate flail

the only time in Joe Brady's life he has been subpar is when dipshit matt was his boss

100% of NU fans would happily trade trae for a new coach
I agree. Would happily see the 27 class fall apart if that means a new staff. Sadly imo we are stuck with Rhule 2 more years no matter what. The admin just doesn’t care about competing at the highest level. Win 7 games and a bowl game once in awhile and they are content.

If Rhule gets fired at the end of the year, (which I don’t hope because that would mean things are worse than they are now), then there’s nothing we can do about Trae leaving and going to Indiana or Illinois

This could turn out hilarious if it falls apart, Bookie and Mike Riley type of thing.

Pelini had that stud WR locked up until Ole Miss came in last minute.

During the Callahan era, who was that LB who intentionally flipped from Nebraska last minute to OU? Travis something or another....

Also Josh Freeman...

Those 2 were a kick in the nuts.

All the Millard schools are recruiting kids from closed districts. Its ********. Saw Millard coaches at a middle school track meet in Elkhorn. Several Elkhorn athletes are at Millard North now
I am sure they were there but weren't they just there because they were probably coaching and/or watching their kids compete?

How... fascinating, would it be if he dumped us.
When you have guys like Kong and Wilson always bitching about something wrong with nu football can you blame the kid for looking around, plus Ohio st will just recruit top players from other teams just so those teams don’t get better, Michigan is another, hell Nebraska did that in their hay day just so ku and kst wouldn’t get better
