Has Carolina at #5 matched up with the Florida #12

#5 - UNC
Cincinnati (28)
High Point
Penn

#12 - Florida
Wake Forest
TCU
Bethune Cookman

The hypothetical super would be one of the better pitching matchups of the year.

another conversation is UCLA potentially having UCSB as their #2, SB has good enough #2 and #3 guys to hold Flora back for a potential matchup with UCLA.

With an RPI of 16, Georgia won't be the 3 seed. I believe we'll be top 4 if we close strong.

I too need to listen to the nerd cast to hear their logic behind Georgia as the 3 seed. However, I imagine it has to do with the fact that they try to project out how a team will finish. Georgia has LSU at home and Alabama away to finish the regular season. LSU won’t help them as they are 55 in the RPI. Alabama is at five in the RPI. If they project Georgia to win those series then that would certainly boost their RPI. DSR AND KPI are other metrics used and Georgia is top 10 in both of those.

Their logic for ranking Georgia so high is they have a good chance of winning the SEC regular season. While the selection committee might punish us for being 16 in the RPI, it's unlikely they would do that to the SEC champ.

However, if the selection committee wants to dispel the notions that they are extremely biased towards SEC schools,, they really need to hammer Georgia over their incredibly weak OOC schedule, which has a SOS rank of 231.

Need to correct myself on Georgia’s remaining schedule. They have Auburn instead of Alabama. My point still holds as Auburn is very high in the metrics.

I have no idea how the Commitee assigns teams-matchup wise
But it just seems like with all the high bids the SEC will get that one will be here if we make the Supers

I agree, I need to listen to the nerd cast to see what their reasoning is behind having Georgia there.
UGA has the asterisk, which means the projection has them winning the SECT - i guess it would make a little sense for UGA to be that high if that ends up being the case. probably doesn't end up happening, though

The asterisk denotes an automatic qualifier based on current conference standings, not necessarily a conference tournament prediction (same for GT and KU, etc)

Decent chance Georgia gets into the top 10 of the RPI just by playing a series at Auburn as long as they don't get swept there.

I guess they did it to develop pitching or something, but Georgia playing back-to-back 4-game series against Oakland and Queens was really dumb if you know anything about the RPI at all.

Tend to agree. there is even a path to #3. Heck #2. I think UCLA is #1. And I think if UNC wins the ACCT and beast GT in the process of doing it.. while finishing the reg season strong... could get us 2.

#2 in the country but #5 seed in the tourney. They must be projecting a slide back. Otherwise make it make sense

The committee that seeds the tourney should rank the teams throughout the year including RPI as one of their calculations. That's my story and I'm sticking to it lol
Would make sense like they do for football, just so much work and the money isn’t there for baseball to make it worth the time

Warren Nolan is a good site for sports in general, but their individual game predictions often seem to change, depending on which direction the wind is blowing. They currently have us sweeping the wolpfack next weekend 8-1, 8-2 and 9-4. We'll see how many times those predicted scores change over the next 9 days.

And as we’ve learned the last two years, if the bracket goes exactly chalk with the higher seed winning every game, the host team will be the visitors for the last 2 games. It’s insane.
If it goes "exactly chalk", there's only 3 games, and host is home team for first 2, and away for 3rd. Lose the 3rd, and host is away for the last game. The change that was made a few years ago is if two teams has been home the same number of times, the higher seed is home. If 1 & 2 both win first game, 1 is the home team.

Talking about the regionals when there are a minimum of 6 games.

If you haven’t been around the last two years, we’ve been the road team to Oklahoma and LSU in both games 6 and 7.

Yeah but if it’s “exactly chalk” you don’t play that last game, you just win 3 times
