oops...I thought that was national ranking. I see the rankings are by conference though. They ranked us 12th in the SEC.

Nothing to see here.

espn obviously doesn’t follow the program closely enough to actually give any insight. A couple top news tidbits made into a summary.

You know we're looking at a 6-6 type season.

Playoffs??? LOL

Getting emotionally crushed year after year... who needs the heartache?

I can see us starting 4-1 with wins over Kent State, Towson, MSU and UK and a loss to Bama. I would not pencil in another win until we play Arkansas. Clemson could be a win this year. That gets us to 6.

Anything less than a 4-1 start and Beamer should be fired on the spot.

A 5-0 start, on the other hand, could signal a special year.

6-6 likely means a raise and extension for Beamer, and the beat goes on. Donati will point to "improvement" and say Beamer needs the vote of confidence and the program needs the stability to help with recruiting. It will also allow Donati to be able to fire Paris without having to pay two buyouts.

Another win over Clemson, who looks like they will struggle again, a bowl trip to somewhere cold to face a G5 opponent and hope will spring eternal.

So, has Sellers improved in the off season? I want him to succeed, but he was dreadful last year. Yes, he was under pressure a lot, but even when he wasn't he couldn't get the ball to open recievers.*

Last year he struck me "cruising on his talent" and success from the previous year. Has he done the work to get better?

*Did some stat checking on this. His On Target stat was better than I expected. Not elite, but at least decent. I think what I saw was mainly the result of missing on key plays, drive killers and so forth. He definitely missed open guys when he should not have, but overall the % wasn't terrible.

I've said it a million times, Sellers is a great athlete but a mediocre QB. He is the HS QB who is the best athlete on the team and his speed and physicality allow him to cover up his lack of QB skills.

This is a contract year for him if he wants to play in the NFL. If he struggles again, I can see him being one of those college players who hangs around in college as long as possible. If he doesn't step up his game, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain a big money NIL deal. He may transfer if the collective reduces his NIL.

Our offense has really held us back as a program since Spurrier left. We have had some pretty good defenses most years, but for whatever reason Mushamp and Beamer have been hell bent on giving the keys to the offense to absolutely incompetent dipshits. The lone exception was Dowell Loggains, he was only partially incompetent. Kendal Briles is a bit of an outlier for offensive coordinators for us in that he has had good offenses before coming here. I think we should be thanking Donati for likely getting involved in Shula's replacement. Beamer's body of work for OC hires has been pretty bad.

I think we could have a surprisingly good season if Briles can field even a just ok offense. Clayton White deserves more enough credit for keeping us in so many games over the last 5 years.
