This is the level I always thought he should be playing. Too many kids growing up now that don’t have enough honesty around them. He was way too skinny and weak coming out of high school to be playing SEC basketball for sure.

Stay out of trouble, hit the weights like your life depends on it and work on some inside moves. If he can gain 40 pounds of muscle, he could have a chance to earn some good money overseas for a few years. It a bad way to make a living if you ask me.

He had his good moments when playing for us too. He looked agile and was a nice shot blocker at times but the knock on him was he just needed more strength. It's surprising he never quite made it.

Weird several know it alls here stated Pope should throw big money his way . No power conference even offered him
I can only speak for myself but I never said anything about big money nor do I remember seeing anyone else say that. I do think he may well have been among our best options for a backup center at this point.

he's just not very good
Exactly and reports of his off court issues don’t help. Penny had to fine his NIL money/Rev share portion I guess to get him to practice on time. He had a domestic violence incident at Ohio State. He leveraged his talent into some decent money for sure but compared to his potential he fell way short.

Proof positive that high school recruiting rankings are guesses based on potential and athleticism.

This kid was supposed to be a surefire OAD. Four years later and he’s playing in a tiny conference in front of 65 fans.

Wasn’t he the #1 player (or at least #1 center) coming out of high scale?

It's not about a lack of potential with this guy. He actually oozes it. He just doesn't gaf enough about it to put in the work. It goes deeper than that though. He's an absolute ******* headcase. Remember, Royce White? Aaron Bradshaw says hold my ******* keg.

When Bardshaw signed the juveniles on this board were all writing #9 is in the books. I do not care about rankings. Results between November and March is all that matters.

Actually, rankings are based off of summer camps playing against the other top talent. He was one of the more talented players playing against elite level of talent. His problem is his head and maturity level.

Another interesting question is: What are these recruiting services actually ranking? Knowing that might cause some CBB fans to rethink how much they're invested in or concerned with the rankings.

For the head aspect, it is like he wanted to be a wing and sort of tried to play as such while never bothering to develop any wing skills beyond wanting to jack threes nor any big man tools either.

Dude has managed to anti develop himself completely out of all five positions.

Just a tall kid that really doesn’t care about playing basketball.
Sure seems like it, he didn’t get to coast to an unwarranted draft spot and now he will be a trivia question one day. Like the most recent two top 5 HS team mates to never make the NBA with Wagner or something.

Cal promised him a wing shooting 3’s position & then he got hurt in late summer but still became a starter because Cal kept his word. He does have some talent & will be a multi year Euro Pro like Kyle W. & Alex P. but the NBA is a far off dream.
If 5 in 5 passes he’ll be back in P5 next year - Nova or Some other BigEast school.
