World Team Trials are coming up! Since a world medalist is sitting out to Final X at 65, 79, 86, 92, and 97kg, we will only have competition at 57, 61, 70, 74 and 125kg. Pokes in the field:

61: Jax
70: Robideau
74: Amine

If entries remain the same, I’d imagine Jax and Desanto will face off again and Davino will face the winner of Seidel vs Tomasello. As much as I like Seidel, his strength is neutralized to a degree in freestyle, so envision another Davino vs Jax final. This is truly a toss up but I believe Jax gets it done with a bit more focus and fine tuning some of his mistakes after the first meeting.

Landon joins the challenge tournament after only wrestling U20’s at the Open. His field includes Alec Panteleo, Caleb Henson and Ian Parker. Not simple by any means but he can wrestle with and beat this group if he’s healthy and stays aggressive. There had been talk of Melvin Miller joining this field but I believe he’s focused on U20s at this point. Winner takes on Ridge Lovett at Final X.

Cam beat Carr in the open so I will not question his ability to advance but it’s a tough bracket. PJ Duke jumped in, as did Jayden James, David Carr, Mikey Caliendo and Evan Wick is cutting down.

This won’t be two days of fun like the Open but should have some great high level matches to enjoy!

Zain beats Landon 3-2. The first period shot clock point was the difference. Landon was hesitant to take shots and that ended up being his issue.

Landon looked very good. It didn't look like Zane had any strength or conditioning advantage. Zane had better leg attacks. If Landon can get a little more dynamic with his leg attacks he could be the man at this weight for us shortly.
I don’t know how current Zain compares to peak Zain. But the fact that Lando is hanging with any form of Zain is super impressive to me.

Good showing from our TT guys. Jax dominated, when he’s clicking he is the best of that domestic group. Landon looked good. Needs to find a way to his offense against Zain who has great defense . He matched his hand fight for the most part. Amine is in there w the best of them. Can beat anyone but stringing together a senior tournament will be the next step and a challenging one.

It was incredible how many shots Henson took on Zain and never finished. His defense is world class.
Did Zain get put on the clock? I watched the match at 4x speed and didn’t see a lick of offense from him. I could’ve missed it from the 4x speed though.

He was put on the clock and got a point for a step out while on it

I mean that’s masterful gamesmanship. His only scores in his two matches both came when he was on the clock. Got a point for Landon on clock too I guess but you get the point.
