Sal Stewart is a whiny little b^tch. He needs to get one in the ribs. He should get plunked every time he gets up the rest of this series. I’m also tired of the umps making themselves the focus of the game.

Man, if Rodriguez can stay healthy and hit a few curves that side of the Buc's battery all of the sudden would be a strength.

He’s definitely an offensive upgrade, but we need to see how he handles the pitching staff because that’s the strength of the team

I don't think we can wait for Jared Jones to get off the IL. We need bullpen help now. Soto is regressing to the mean and something's wrong with Santana. Not sure if velocity is down or pitches aren't breaking as much.

Rough weekend for the Buccos. For as good as they have been playing, they still have work to do. They got schooled by a veteran team this weekend. The bullpen is atrocious right now.

They're inconsistent pretty much across the board. Last place in the division I believe??? They definitely are improved. Konnor is going to be a stud but they need to spend a ton of money if the goal is the post season.

I do not disagree, but this division is very competitive, which means last place in the division is only five games out. That is nothing at this point in the season. This is a wide open division. They definitely need to make a few moves before the trade deadline. Bullpen should be priority number one. Soto never impressed me and was awful with the Phillies. He is who he is.

You're correct it is--as we stand today though I'd be pleasantly surprised if they finished the year better than anyone other than the Reds. Probably a Cards/Bucs race for third.

Ten blown saves. Is that correct?
8 Saves, 27 Holds, 10 Blown Saves Yes, that is really bad

Last year - even with all the troubles of Holderman and a few others:
36 Saves, 76 Holds, 26 Blown Saves.

If you do the math, it all boils down to an increase of 8 more losses over the course of the season (vs an average bullpen) - or more than enough to take a marginal post-season team into an "also ran".

Much appreciate the solid analysis. Thanks!

This team has a VERY GOOD starting rotation (currently #5 in all MLB) and should get better when Jared Jones returns and could vie for a playoff spot if they fix the bullpen (10 blown saves so far) and the hitting improves (Ozuna, Davis). I don't trust Nuttjob or Cherington to make the necessary moves should they be in contention late in the year. I wish they'd break the bank for Skenes and keep him in Pittsburgh but don't see that happening either.

So, there’s some chatter of moving one of those starters to the bullpen as they most likely will remain with a five man rotation when Jones returns. Chandler seems like the odd man out, however, he leads the league in walks issued. Do you trust him in the bullpen? It’s discussed in this article from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

Chandler has good stuff but is wild, for some reason, unlike last year. Maybe he's pressing to much to keep his spot and overthrowing? Kicker is they might have the best pitcher in the minors, Seth Hernandez, but he's only 19 and going to be limited this year. If they could keep this rotation in tact, some how extend Skenes and bring Hernandez up in a year or so they could have the best starting staff in the Majors.

Chandler is still raw. He needs to develop secondary pitches. His bread and butter is his fastball, but he is struggling with command of the fastball now too. Maybe he is pressing like you said. Ashcroft has been a pleasant surprise.
