Look, I'm old.....This meme thread is gold, but I just don't get these Hobbit references......

So, does this just mean there are alot of dungeon and dragons goobers on here, or is this a movie series I need to watch

As in, is it good, and has some good humor, or what is the deal

I always thought that the Hobbit was a better book than The Lord of the Rings trilogy but just the opposite with the movies. Excellent movies by the way. I’ve read all the books including The Simirilian and watched all the movies multiple times and I don’t understand some of the memes.

I will post them because somedays they are the only clean ones I can post. I got lots of really crude ones (not hobbit related)

Hobbits are some of the main characters in the Lord of the Rings books and shows.
The Hobbit is a prequel to that main series (one book they made into 3 movies).

I’d say it’s worth watching the main trilogy.

Edit: dungeons and dragons is something else entirely. I’ve never really gotten into that, but they did make a really fun movie in 2023.

The Hobbit movie trilogy is pretty good but the third one is pretty meh. It feels very rushed.

I used to think poorly of the prequel trilogy. Then they made the sequel trilogy and I realized things could be so very much worse. Prequels are actually pretty great except for the dialogue.
Yeah when the prequels came out I was sort of indifferent about them but when this newer trilogy came out it made the prequels look like masterpieces.

Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker are complete garbage.

The Hobbit is essentially a children's book in the same way the Potter books are children's books. That doesn't mean adults cant enjoy it. It in no way warranted three movies. The Lord of the Rings is not a children's book. I love both books, and all the various add ons that JRR Tolkien himself wrote and compiled. As for the movies I thought the Hobbit ones were trash. The LOTR ones were great......if you had never read the book. There were too many changes, add ons, and leave outs for me. Still good movies, but just too many "but that's not what happened" moments.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a Star Wars movie from start to finish. I’ve watched bits and pieces on TV but I never saw any of them in the theater.
Empire Strikes Back is a fantastic movie. Star Wars (the original, I believe now referred to as A New Hope) is worth watching too.

So you like Jar Jar Binks. Noted**

I like the effort, and I wanted to see what happened leading up to the original trilogy, so I went into the prequels with great interest. But man, the acting - and then that complete embarrassing doof of a character mentioned above - makes it almost unwatchable for me. And I hate that.

It really is amazing Kathleen Kennedy got rich ruining star wars and bill iger got rich(er) letting her do it. They should both have to disgorge their entire network and give it to Disney shareholders as compensation for setting shareholder money on fire.

The lord of the rings is the greatest story of the anglosphere. You can decide if you need to experience that or not.

The Hobbits are like Carnies. Hairy feet, small hands and they smell like cabbage. They also act gay at times.

OK, noted on all of the above, and the "oscar sweep" video told me it would be worth watching / reading

As to the star wars commentary....the original 3=gold.....the stuff with jar jar and how aniken became vader and the sith stuff=pure garbage! NOW, I really enjoyed the stuff w/ "Ray" become ing a jedi, and how they defeated the emperor, and her becoming a "skywalker"......I saw the first Star Wars (A New Hope) as a 8 year old @ Deville Cinema, and the stories w/ Ray just kind of pull it all to some closure for me.

I went to the first original one in 9th grade (1977) and walked out about 30 minutes in thinking what in the hell is this crap? I'm not a sci-fi fan, at all, its got to be believable or I don't watch it whatever it is.

To each his own. Rainy days in elementary school, the PE teacher wheeled out the TV & VCR; it was always either Slim Goodbody or this version you mentioned:

The thing is, I loved Star Trek. I loved the original series, TNG, and all the movies.

And yet years later, those relatively disappointing prequels still dominate the crap that Disney has put out.

This seems like great news for Disney. They should take everything touched by Kathleen Kennedy, host a huge bonfire, and then announce that they're going to create new Star Wars content made by people that actually like Star Wars for people that actually like Star Wars and pretend that everything Kennedy made was a bad dream. They would absolutely print money. There are some good star wars books that they could make into screen plays that would have built in audiences.

They should have just filmed the Thrawn Trilogy as episodes 7-9 back in the 90s. Everyone would have loved it.
